This time of year is not about playing pretty or whatever. It’s about grinding out results. Liverpool had 65 hours between 2 away games and one was an early kick off which they notoriously struggle with. Literally the only thing that matters during the festive season is getting points, recovering fast and moving onto the next one. Unsustainable when they’ve lost one game (against spurs) since April 1st while they’ve had one of the more challenging fixture schedules in the league (5 out of 8 teams away in the top 10). Last week, when Arsenal came back against Luton, it was the mentality of champions. Now when Liverpool do it, in a week they’ve played 3 games in 6 days (like most of the other teams too) it’s unsustainable. K

Every week i hear someone say "liverpool won't sustain these results, Liverpool will eventually drop points if they keep playing like this" there is a reason we are "unbeaten" this season. Our defence has improved massively. Yes we didn't play well and maybe crystal palace deserved something but this just shows the mentality of this team has improved immensely over the last year and just like Abz said for United earlier on, United under SAF didn't play the prettiest football but they got results and trophies.

I am a diehard city fan, I watch literally every game, this is the best way to articulate my point on the Rodri vs KDB debate. Rodri is by far our most important player for implementing our system and style of play. When Rodri is missing, you can easily tell based on our patterns of play. With KDB, he is by far our most important match winner. KDB allows us to win games or compete in games, when he is on the pitch I am confident we always have a chance to win. The games we’ve lost and drawn this season are the perfect examples of this. The games we’ve lost, Rodri was missing and we completely failed to implement our system on the game. The games we’ve drawn, those are the games that KDB would’ve been driving us to create more chances and have a better potential of winning. They’re both unbelievable and equally important for different reasons.

Villa were shattered from smoking city a couple days before, and barely making any changes all season. That’s unai winning mentality to dig in and still get the win when not at very best.
