@@user-dv4bm2pk5e I think Neil’s point about Diaz picking the ball up 40 yards to early was a great point. He’s beating all our players to the box and then he’s also knackered. If we can sort it where Robbo is giving him the ball to run onto from 10 yards from the box, we will see the more explosive Diaz rather than work horse. More end product. Gakpo defo has a question mark. He’s a bit soft for me and hasn’t got that chasing for the ball back in his head yet. Again, I always like to be proved wrong if I’m negative. Hopefully he does that.

I don't understand why we played Salah for the whole game on Thursday night, then took him off before 78 minutes yesterday. The same goes for almost all of our starting line up against Sparta Praha. Yes, the early goals were great fun, but starting with the kids was probably a safer chance of then winning at Old Trafford (something I do not believe we have achieved in the FA Cup for over 100 years). Even if Sparta had scored a couple, we could then have brought on some of the senior players to see out our win in the Europa and then they'd not have been so tired on Sunday. On 78 minutes yesterday Cody Gakpo had the ball near the halfway line with 4 other players Vs the Utd pairing of Maguire and Dalot with Onana behind them. He dallied and dribbled rather than tie the Utd pair up with a pass out wide right for Bradley who had also only just entered the fray. Conor could have either crossed it to the head of Nunez, played it inside to Elliott for a left footed shot, or at least won a corner, but instead he plays it far too late for Elliott and others for Utd had the time to get back and reduce the chance of an extra goal that should have ended the tie. That moment I really thought "this is going to bite us on the arse". Cody could also have pushed the ball out left for Nunez, but admittedly Dalot was closer to him, not that the necessarily mattered given what Nunez can do, but it could have ended up with either a shot on target or even a foul on the edge of their box. My point is that not only am I getting a bit frustrated with Cody Gakpo, but that had we kept Szoboszlai and/or Salah fresher for yesterday then we probably wouldn't have lost this game. Players need time to get up to speed to be able to come back from injury and perform, but therefore it is important to choose their minutes on the pitch wisely. I think that after the City game Jurgen wanted a win straight away to put the pep back into the team, but instead he should have been more patient and waited for yesterday. However, Lawrence, you are probably very right... A win in the league at Old Trafford would be preferable to getting beyond them in the cup, especially if it brings a league title much closer. Showing all our cards yesterday might have been detrimental to the chances of a win in the league, but I don't think the way Utd won that game yesterday will have done anything other than give them more confidence for 3 weeks time. Hopefully in that game we can go and produce a comprehensive 0-3 win. No need to better the 0-5 or the 7-0, just a thoroughly good win that should hopefully give us the strongest chance of the league. We are missing Jota, there is a slim chance he might be able to play some part in that game. Even if he doesn't, hopefully someone will play like he does and be more clinical.

@@scottp4357 Yep it was Clarke and you are right, but I just think that having then played Mo for too long on Thursday, he should have been coming on after 55 yesterday rather than coming off after 75. If you get my point. Although my main gripe was that he really should have been an early-mid second half sub on Thursday then more able to make it to 90 yesterday. We might then have only needed 90 minutes from all the lads yesterday. Still, despite 30 extra minutes yesterday, losing means we now won't have to play a second rescheduled league game with all the other games coming up from Easter. Let's hope we rise again on Easter Sunday and nobody is getting crucified!

@@garethjones341 yeah i get you, we had no way to escalate if it wasn't going our way...that's where a player like Jota makes all the difference, although in all fairness Harvey did his usual supersub appearence but then his and Endo's mistake led to the goal. in hindsight i think Connor should've probably taken the red card for DOGSO and fouled Rashford it was a weird game all around tbh, if we'd made it 3-1 in the second half we wouldn't be having this conversation lol...small margins i guess but we shouldn't killed the game off whilst Salah etc were still on the pitch. I'm more annoyed at the manner in which we lost rather than the fact that we actually lost, it was totally avoidable and a mistake we _cannot_ league for the league fixture.

A squad stretched beyond its limits, injuries to too many players and a mad fixture list. Cut the team some slack. Oh I forgot, we're being targeted by almost every referee in the league. They haven't taken kindly to Jürgen pointing out their numerous incompetences. Managers are rolling over because they don't want to get punished. Criticizing the incompetence of officials has now become even more dangerous. It's not just sanctions anymore. Paul Tomkins has told all.

Yup. His cup final results have improved, but our results in big matches vs our rivals has fallen off a cliff in the 2nd half of his reign. Including Everton & Brighton aswell. Not only have our rivals sussed him out, our rivals *always* seem to want it more. This is unacceptable and smacks of the team being badly prepared. Klopp is preparing them for football matches when it’s a war not a football match when we’re playing teams who despise us more than you can possibly imagine. Personally I won’t miss him that much because I want a manager capable of “wanting it more”, Klopp clearly doesn’t. He’s made it quite clear this is just footy and just a job to him which he can’t wait to retire from. He’s made that quite clear over the 9 years even from early on.

Milan know how we feel times 10 😂😂 At least it was only a quarter final of FA cup. Can you imagine what they were saying in 2005 ? 😂😂 " How the fxxx did we lose that " ? 😂😂 . YNWA

Josh is right here when he said “how did we lose to these lot”. Man Utd have been garbage all season and have somehow managed to win games which they should have lost so many times this season!

Nunes seems to hit the ball perfect though he never gets a deflection or a scruffy one not hit well if u know what I mean ? Jota scores loads of goals were its deflected or a bit scruffy or scuffed as well as the boss ones but Darwin always seems to hit it true. Jota scores at least two yesterday no problem 😂. Jurgen said something about using the young players at the right time so maybe he thought Old Trafford and the way the game was weird might not be the right time and who am i to say it was the wrong decision? Let’s be honest, Klopp shouldn’t have played any of the FA Cup starting 11 against Sparta Prague. Very costly mistake, I don’t know why Endo, Gomez and Salah, Nunez even Elliott looked knackered. Robertson had to come off quite early, Tsimikas wasn’t as good

It's doing my head in watching the pundits over reacting big time to Utd,s comeback and how much of a great game it was. I didn't think it was a great game I was frustrated as hell , I thought it was a horrible performance. From their point of view it might have been a great game but even if we would have won in extra time I still would have said the game done my head in. I thought we were a bit cocky in the second half but maybe we mentally tired. They always do knock us out the FA cup . On the bright side two more ( or 1) intense Wembley trips we don't have now and it might be a favour bc we ran out of steam last few games last time , especially in Paris. We've played a lot of games and extra time again .. If we win title we won't care. YNWA

You can talk about failing to kill the game off with various chances, or as was generally more the case, chances to *create* chances in the second half at 2-1. Fair enough, but you could say that about a lot of teams in a lot of games. Turning attacks and chances into goals is the hardest thing in football. That's why you get an average of just under three goals a game, not twenty goals a game. You can talk about conceding a slightly soft equaliser. That's fair, and all the more annoying for being scored by a Antony, a £90m laughing stock who epitomises the mismanagement of United as a footballing operation in recent years. You can talk about substitutions not working, but really, having played 90 minutes on Thursday (which was forced due to Clark needing to be subbed in that game), could Salah really have done 120 minutes, would it have been wise to ask him to, and realistically, who else were we going to bring on in his place besides Gakpo? You could say similar things for Szoboszlai and Elliott really - did Szoboszlai have 120 minutes in him in only his third start since early January, having played 90 minutes fewer than 72 hours earlier. You can question whether Gakpo offers enough and makes enough of an impact in games, and basically whether he's good enough or well suited to our style of play, and I share those reservations, 13 goals this seasons notwithstanding, particularly because they've mostly been against relatively weak opposition and in mostly non-critical game states. You can lament how short of energy we looked in extra-time, but you'd expect that to be the case. We played on Thursday, United had a week off, they've played 12 times since the start of 2024, we've played 18 times and done so while having to cope with the mother of all injury crises. You can criticse Nunez for giving the ball away stupidly for United's equaliser in extra-time, but that's exactly the kind of poor decision-making and sloppy execution you display when you're knackered. What I find inexcusable is conceding a goal on the counter in the 121st minute - literally seconds away from penalties - from our own corner. That to me can never be excused. It's a stupid way to concede a goal at 0-0 after half an hour; it's criminal to concede like that in the dying seconds of extra-time. Granted, we were set up as we would be at 0-0 after half an hour, but there you go. Penalties were seconds away, and not only that, but we had a load of knackered players on the pitch who were always liable to struggle in a sprint back from just outside the United box to our own, so leave another man back, or at least put another one deep outside the box. Could have done that and still had van Dijk, Quansah, Gakpo, and Nunez still in there as aerial threats to potentially nick it if we managed to put a good ball in and one of them got a clear run at it. To concede like that with seconds remaining is fucking unforgivable.

Liverpool were nieve imo. At 3 2 yoir just kill the game. Do what you need to do to make really hare for them. Thats on the Captain. He should be calming everyond down. But oh know we trying to get a 4th. Robertson is shite, Gomez has done well there and Conner Bradley had been brill. So they should have started. Also why did play such a strong team v Sparta when we were 5 1 up. If this isnt a kick the up arse for now to end season i dont know what is. Its angry nasty Luverpool i want to see when they play next.

I actually think that Eric ten Haag is doing a good job - If Klopp only wins a Carling Cup this season, then Klopp has only done as good a job at LFC since Ten Haag has at Manure. If Liverpool don't win anything else this season and Manure win the FA cup then Ten Haag has done a better job the Klopp has in the last 2 seasons

he is. I can understand why rival fans/media are on to the Utd manager in general and putting pressure on, but have never understood why everyone seems to dislike and disrespect ETH in particular. His first season is a complete and utter success, and this season he could end up with an FA cup (or a final) and a CL qualification (again). Considering the injuries its solid stuff. He'll never be a pep or a klopp but give him a proper recruitment structure and he can be serious.
