Being a big club used to mean something. Before the creation of the Premier League when money was more evenly dispersed throughout the football leagues (and a lot less money than today), being a huge club was important because ticket sales and merchandise sales gave you a big financial advantage over your competition. And because of that, being a bigger club made you more attractive to the top players and they were willing to leave an objectively better club to sign for a bigger club. Today none of that is true. United are a much bigger club than City. They get bigger crowds. They crush them in merchandise sales. They have a much bigger global fanbase, but that gives them zero advantages over City. No player in the world would choose to play for United over City. No manager in the world would choose to manage United over City. City have far more money than United. Today being a big club isn't as important as being the best club. So who cares who the biggest club is 😂
