They actually bid for him six months later and he turned them down because they refused to place a release clause in his contract so he went to Dortmund who did that. Haaland has been very smart with his career with that kind of thing. He even got Manchester City to put a release clause in his contract. So if they had bid for him that summer nothing would have changed.

That's just one point of view that the opportunity was there to sign. Sure Manchester United have academy that couldve train him, but its not the same you could get in consistently playing first team for youth focus team. No guarantee in it for the scouts and management to invest on a lower league level player if youth is not as much of a focus.

To be fair to the club (and I hate sticking up for the Glazier’s), the club has always refused to install buy out clauses in players contracts and Alfie Haarland refuses to let Erling Haarland sign any contract without a buy out clause so it was physically impossible for United to sign him unless 1 side broke their demands.

there's something more to this story. the guy played against liverpool for salzburg and was visibly their best player and liverpool signed minamino. I suspect the plan was always to move to a club that accepted the highly unorthodox arrangement used for his 'big move'. how many european clubs would accept a player's agent & father receiving more of a transfer fee than the club? dortmund signed him knowing they were getting a limited sell on. his dad was always city, so it was probably designed to go along with City's false accounting.

One of the biggest lies in the history of football. Right up there with Paul Scholes being stuck on the left wing for England for years, when he spent the majority of his England career in centre mid and barely played with both Gerrard and Lampard. The injured knee that Alf retired from wasn't the one Roy Keane booted. You can see him wearing a strapping on the other knee when he gets kicked. It's also why he tried to sue Keane and nothing came of it.
