As a United fan watching that game I thought Chelsea were going to win it in the second half. I've always believed Ferdinand wasn't as great as many people said he was. Yes, he was good on the ball but for his height he was poor in the air. He needed a tough no-nonsense partner like Vidic or Terry. Not one for the physical battles.

Ah, the golden years of United, EPL, and Cristiano! This video brings me such a feeling of nostalgia! Football was so, so much better back then than today! More spontaneous without stupid VAR that only makes things more confusing and messy, tougher, with tougher, real players, who almost all had street origins (ironically, except Messi who spent the majority of his youth in Barca academy), and that just doesn't happen anymore (and it's a shame because footballers with street education and upbringing are the most magical players), with epic rivalries, and much better quality of top leagues than today. Also, Cristiano was just brilliant, he was a brilliant winger during his first spell at United, and he was a more mature, brilliant winger for a few years at Real Madrid. And what pisses me off is how so many brain-dead people now think he was just a striker. It's so infuriating how people who literally have no idea about this game, the game's history, and Cristiano's history, talk nonsense about him on podcasts, in the interviews, etc. And what's worse, there are some bitter ex-teammates of Cristiano who talk nonsense too (yes, looking at you Rooney - you are a pathetic, fat, jealous twat). Cristiano is a giant in this sport and what he has done in his entire career is absolutely spectacular! It's actually amazing that he is still going at 39. I mean, he is almost 40, and he still has amazing stats in Saudi, and Saudi proved much better league than MLS where Messi plays, we have seen that when Saudi teams tore apart Inter Miami in a few matches.

Chelsea had it only in the second half and the first half of extra time. They were lucky not to have conceded at least 3 goals in the first half.

@@olamydjay5920Very true and also it wasn't just the first half ManUtd had the best chances of the match to win the game, also had the best chance of extra-time and again via good play (Chelsea's best chances came from slices of fortune not good moves like all ManUtd's I mean just look at Chelsea's goal) when Evra set up Giggs for an open goal but for JT's head. JT probably wishes he couldn't reach that ball now 😂

True and also yeah JohnTerry's slip made up for VanDerSar's slip for Chelsea's equaliser an already lucky goal without that given not just the timing of the goal against the run of play on the stroke of half-time etc...but the goal itself the way multiple deflections gave Lampard a 1on1 but VanDerSar's saved 1on1 with Lampard before namely 1-0 at OldTrafford Nov2005 & I believe he did the same the following season but his slip in CL final 08 made it an open goal. ManUtd created all their own chances not just in the first half which gave them a goal and multiple golden opportunities to kill the game but also after Chelsea gained momentum because of all the fortune they'd had in the game to somehow be level, their best chances still apart from one Lampard on the woodwork (which had made up for his lucky goal) were all long hopeful shots like first half, where as ManUtd still had the best chance of extra-time and that was another well worked move by ManUtd decent play by Evra who gave Giggs an open goal but for JTerry's head on the goal-line (Giggs still should've given Terry no chance he had the whole goal to aim at, but at least it set up the poetic justice in the shootout).

Chelsea had a ridiculous amount of bad calls in their favour in the Abramovic era in general but even when just thinking about games vs ManUtd the first 7 years of Abramovic in particular Chelsea were strongly favoured more than ManUtd in these games, usually multiple games, some season there'd be 3 games Chelsea were favoured vs ManUtd whether they got good results or not but the worst was 2009/10 all 3 were absolute robberies and it contributed to ManUtd not getting the record 4 PL's in a row... and also in this CL final 2008 Chelsea had more luck than ManUtd it would've been over at half-time if that wasn't the case and Chelsea's equaliser against the run of play & on the stroke of half-time, was also lucky in the goal itself hopeful shot from distance taking multiple deflections falling kindly for Lampard and even after that VanDerSar slipped at the crucial moment. Even in Extra-time ManUtd again created the best chance when JohnTerry had to head off the line when Giggs had an otherwise open goal.
