Brave men fought with the battle cry Tears filled the eyes of their loved ones and their brothers in arms And so it went, for Joseph Warren It should have been different It could have been easy His rank could have saved him But a country unborn needs bravery And it spread like wildfire [Chorus] Wildfire From the ashes grew sweet liberty Like the seeds of the pines when the forest burns They open up to grow and burn again It should have been different It could have been easy But too much money rolled in to ever end slavery The cry for war spread like wildfire [Chorus] Wildfire Wildfire Civil War came, Civil War went Brother fought the brother, the South was spent But its true demise was hatred passed down through the years It should have been different It could have been easy But pride has a way of holding too firm to history And it burns like wildfire I was a born a southern son In a small southern town where the rebels run wild They beat their chests and they swear we're going to rise again It should have been different It could have been easy The day that old Warren died hate should have gone with him But here we are caught in the wildfire [Chorus] Wildfire Wildfire Wildfire Wildfire

During all the racial and civil unrest of summer 2020 I had a job as a regional supervisor of a pool company. I was also going through the absolute worst break up I hope to ever go through. I saw the wildfire going on in the world around me, but it was hard to focus on because of the raging wildfire within. That opening pedal steel swell cuts through my soul like a hot butter knife because it takes me back to listening this song while driving pool to pool through Atlanta and having tears for the world around me as well as tears for the pain I felt. Just a song that gives an overwhelming emotional response man, perfection.

Craziest story ever… Your story is the exact situation II was/am in only I own my own pool business and I’m on an island 3700 miles from anywhere. So many of their songs are seemingly the soundtrack to my life and my heart. If your still doing pools and looking for something to do there are worse places to be. This song is actually incredible I listen to it all the time because the sound is rare…it’s that good…but the South weren’t brave they were racist fucks and they got their asses kicked as they deserved. When I see the confederate flag now I laugh because how pathetic these clowns are that still represent hate..they’re no longer relevant…No one respects the losers of the South that lost the civil war…thank God they lost.

Jason Smelski As an individual who knows multiple Professors, studies American History, and specifically the Civil War. Along with other subjects like Political Science, economics, psychology, and sociology. I like the melody but it brings the wrong message and the lyrics aren’t correct in regards to history. Saying pride goes over history. Well there was a reason, and is a reason people can have pride, there is nothing wrong with that. It wasn’t of oppression or hatred regarding the topic of slavery. I’m not a hateful person and neither were the Veterans that you’d talk too in the early 20th Century. Neither are a great deal of individuals who understand. There’s a great book on Nathaniel Bedford Forrest and the KKK. Also the LOC that gives facts why the south really went to war, which wasn’t Slavery. I’ve also read thousands and thousands of letters. You’d be surprised In the context Union Soldiers talked of blacks just as you would Confederate soldiers. Reasons of why people enlisted. Plus people don’t fully understand slavery in our own country let alone internationally, like England for example. What was going on in 1860 and the 20 years prior. Definitely not worth getting in a negative debate but as someone who wants to preserve history as a professor, writer, for “what actually happened”, versus memory “what we think happened and how we perceive it” I notice a great deal of this. It doesn’t help with the media either confusing the situation even further. Gary Gallagher and Professor Tom Clemens say the same thing. Keep an open mind, look towards the facts and information. Check out my Instagram if interested in knowing first hand knowledge on the Civil War. Issiah Bernaiche, thank you! Peace and love.

They were entertaining, witty and very good musicians. While they had numerous original songs that were very good, this one really moved me - to tears actually. I spent a lot of time yesterday watching all I could on YT. One poster below said it as well, but I can't stop listening to this song either. Look out guys, Kyle over here thinks he holds the moral high ground. Meanwhile, his compatriots burn and loot every major city across the country, resulting in the deaths of 30+ innocent Americans. You people have concocted this myth that those you disagree with are Nazis or bigots... but it's YOU that suppresses the speech of others and constantly classifies people by their skin color and race. America isn't impressed, Kyle. You aught to look in the mirror my friend.

The irony of your reply I fear may be beyond the grasp of your understanding. It's a song about a your Country, destroying itself from within. How it tore at the seams, from hatred that spread like wildfire. I merely found resemblance to the current moment in time. You created a narrative in your mind about who I am and somehow my affiliation with the group you think I belong to. The group you seem to define as the "other". Truth is I hold no quarter within your Country yet it saddens me to watch it consume itself with so much hate and divisiveness. I wish you well, I wish you and the people you care about well. I'm not your enemy, I'm likely a friend you will never meet.
@Strelnikov10
@Strelnikov10 3 жыл бұрын
@@ffbeaumonster No, if you listen closely, it is a song that claims there is some evil force in this country that started with slavery and was never stamped out after the civil war. It is just another attempt of mainstream culture to villainize half of the country.I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. But I am sick of watching the left demonize the right. As an independent bystander, I have the ability to view the situation somewhat objectively. It is the left in this country that is tearing everything apart. They are the reason we are "caught in a wildfire". Mandolin Orange is openly anti-conservative, Trust me, I've been to one of their concerts. Listen to the way this song makes a blanket demonization of "the south". That doesn't seem very constructive now, does it? If you can't see what the true purpose of this song was (to scold half the country), then you are wearing a blindfold. You cannot sit around a campfire and hold hands and have unity when one side is burning the country to the ground. Sorry, not even all of the hippy energy in the world could make that work.

Y2Chris---in a traditional sense---this music is "country" but in today's standards--it really falls more into the genre of "Americana/American Roots Music" with their style coming more from the bluegrass style. It is great that there are those of the up and coming generations who are going back in time a bit to take the best of what the past music---REAL MUSIC--has to offer and then take it to put a more modern, 21st Century spin to it and groups like Mandolin Orange are doing that! Thank goodness that some people want to make music that is REAL, has a connection to the past and honors that, but makes it fresh and relevant, with such music being done not to just sell more records and other things-but because music in and of itself-----that speaks to more than just superficial things----has value and meaning. This song and the other things that this young couple have already done musically and I hope they continue doing so----will be music that people can come back to in 50 to 100 years and more and find it still stands the test of time-----that is was music "meant to last" and not just be a hit for the next 30 seconds, then move on to make the next great hit and so on----most modern pop music of all sorts seems to have lost that quality--it is mostly "throw away music"

My heart weeps, but I have faith in the people of our country. Everyone needs to let this song sink in deep... Here in California where we've literally been on fire for months and years.
