Maybe a weird compliment, but I liked that alongside Mang0's swaggy plays, the times he GOT dunked were also included in the cuts. I know of a few players/editors who would get rid of any moment that made them look bad. Melee is sick, and it takes the whole host of top players to make it so. As somebody that didn't pay that much attention to Melee back in the day. And being a huge huge fan of ultimate, i can honestly say that I've rarely got this exited watching a super smash video. Honestly this seems like Melee players are on a different level than ultimate. You can really grasp how the game has aged and all those years of practice taking all kind of combos, follow ups and punishes to God like perfection. Then again i really want to see the evolution of ultimate and what are the next secrets to unlock. Thought i think no super smash will never age as well as Melee.

it definitely has an unreachable level that the other smash games can't emulate, due to it's little touches and mechanics that weren't able to be buffed out (time constraints) like the constant updates and time they had for all the future smash bros games. In a way melee is so perfectly broken that it just feels like a finished fast fighting game.
@ariesomega24874 жыл бұрын
Respect that opinion but I don't think that the punishgame of ultimate will evolve that much. Chars like Pika, pichu, ken(ryu terry), shiek and peach will evolve sure but there are like 40 chars in the game that only will change in neutral play

@jimtroeltsch59984 жыл бұрын
Earlier this year at GOML? but before that?? Probably Mango at SSC 2017? But before that??? Probably PPMD whenever he last went solo Falco? I'm not well versed enough in melee history. However, right now in this current meta, I think it's harder than ever for Falco to win a super major. It's so fucking rad that Mango is doing it though, verse the best Marth in the world no less. This tournament was such a legendary run for the nation and for Falco mains everywhere. It felt like Mango kept doing the impossible over and over. When I first started watching the vids for this tournament I remember thinking how it would be so amazing to have a grand finals that was Mango vs Leffen or Mango vs Zain. Nothing against Hbox, but he has been in 95% of the grandfinals for the last two years lol.

I could rant for hours about why this tourney is probably the turning point in Melee right now. The best in the game putting most of their time into ultimate, hungrybox running away with first for the third year in a row, and the “technical robots” taking over the game (as the commentators put it), Melee was waning in viewership and interest. No Evo, no second summit, no heart. It seemed like the game was going to be overshadowed by its new brother. And then there’s Mango (and also Axe). The last ray(s) of hope and hype. He got a win at goml, and it seemed like a turnaround, and then… nothing. Bustering out left and right, which is the mango, but it seemed like he was out of contention. The drones of technical perfection and campy puffs were suddenly all that’s left. At TBH9, there was something in the air. Fresh blood taking household names, the return of the king of the mews with an incredible run, and Mango, sitting in winners top 16. All seemed right in the world. Melee was feeling fast, but awesome to behold. It was clean, but it wasn’t just flowcharts and techskill, it was heads up plays and sick combos that defied everything we’d seen previously. And as was said many times, “there’s so much more Melee left to play” rang true as the bracket started. Then disaster strikes. Leffen takes Mango through the ringer, and sets up his fight with Hbox, a demoralizing 3-0 and heading into the hands of his maker. The war between the lame and the sick was about to finish. This was the end of Melee as we knew it once to be. Mango, the stubborn man he is, said no. Suddenly he looks alive, and is ripping apart Hbox’s defenses. The fox was kicking, and finding every UpAir and crazy kill read. Before we knew it, the crowd was on its feet, and the final stocks laid at the feet of Hbox. The ray of hope became a sensation, a burning passion deep within the hearts of everyone watching. HBOX GOT FIFTH?? The numbers on twitch started climbing. Mango was about to redeem himself, as mango always will it seems, with a Big House losers run. And this is just the beginning. The way mango went to his tournament stock in EIGHT GAMES in FOUR SETS STRAIGHT just shows how much he needed this win for the fans, for the community, for the potential for Melee to live on as something that cannot be bound by flowcharts and techskill, but something more beautiful. And this epitomizes in his fight with Zain, that stood tall against each and every technical and flowcharted spacie that came his way. Except mango. At the end of it all, there is still so much more Melee to be played.
