Screw the haters, you keep building quality products. Because of guys like you and many other I want to start doing this, im in school learning all the processes. I can combine 20+ years of being a diesel mechanic and my new skills as a welder and make my own performance parts. 🤘

Man nice work. I love using a positioner whenever possible. I’m in the nuclear industry and we do a lot of X-ray pipe work. We primarily use the J bevel which is a bit of a pain to prep but really sweet to weld! Great to see you purging as well. There are custom exhaust companies out there that are not purging and it’s disgusting! Keep up the good work and representing us welder/fabricators well!

Very clean work. I’m in aerospace and we use positioners on 90% of our parts I love using them. I want to get into doing more headers and customs intakes and stuff like you do with purging. I know I will with my pre-runner build keep up the awesome work I love watching the welding videos.

So many questions! How do you control, work out the speed of the positioner and how do you start it or is it timed?
@bnmperformancefab
@bnmperformancefab Жыл бұрын
I operate the positioner with a pedal, so my left foot operates the positioner speed and my right foot operates the Amps for the Tig all while using both hands to feed filler and hold the torch

How long did it take you to get good at feeding wire with your hand like that. I cant keep it stable. Like the wire wants to move in a curved direction.

@bnmperformancefab
@bnmperformancefab 5 ай бұрын
Be patient with yourself and don’t be afraid to try new things and find your own way of doing things. Obviously fundamentals can’t be changed but how you hold the torch, how you feed filler and so on can be unique to you so figure out what works for you

I’ve been doing this now for 10 years, but don’t let that deter you. Some people got a back for it and for me I was fairly proficient within months. The fabrication side of it will come with time, the better you get at fabricating the easier the welding becomes. YOU CAN DO IT!!

@bnmperformancefab

I have but for speed sake just holding the torch to adjust for the part not being 100% square in the fixture is the best route

@ScoocumAF
@ScoocumAF 9 ай бұрын
We build manifolds for alcohol and diesel pulling tractors from .063” 316 stainless (2.5” primary) and they survive over 100# of boost for several seasons. They are very concerned with weight. They either get ceramic coating or they turn purple/black after a few passes so the beautiful welding colors never last. I would use a weld positioner (or any tool that makes my work more efficient) if it is practical

If you kept the positioner turning after you tapered off your arc, you would get a more even discoloration and not that stop line of different color.
@bnmperformancefab
@bnmperformancefab Жыл бұрын
This positioner doesn’t have a quick release feature where you can spin it around to get the starts/stops where you want them. To do what suggest would take more time and therefor I don’t do that. Some positioners do have that feature which if I had one that did would would but until then “this is the way”

The color will probably disappear the first time the manifold gets orange hot under boost !
