Last time I flew out I got out of domestic terminal ok, but T1 was nuts. Had to go through metal detectors at the door. I think Customs ( American here) then I had to take my baggage to some inspector, got interviewed by someone outside the baggage inspector. Crossed the whole length of the terminal to go through official Customs and immigration… then after all of that TSA had another security check point special just for people flying to USA no water allowed…

I just hope that there will be a train from NAIA T1-T2 -T3-T4 vice versa to make it more convenient for the passengers in the future.

They need to improve connecting to every terminal like Tram train, and you don't need to go out to the terminal. Like every international airport in the world 🌎

Does Philippine Airlines still fly directly from Heathrow, London, to Manila. I used them several years ago, flying from Heathrow, but after the covid upheaval, I couldn't find them listed anymore.

Seems that you went outside and around the terminal and went inside again instead of going straight to the transfer desk while inside the arrival area.

Yes, it's badly signaged, it's my first time there for years, I always use t3
@ihsrosaryАй бұрын
I noticed the same thing! The official process is to stay Airside. Proceed to the transfer desk (do NOT exit the terminal, as shown in this video). There is a bus that takes you directly from T2 to T1 Gate 18. Due to poor signage, most transferring passengers just follow the crowd like sheep and exit the terminal. Then it's too late... you need to follow the landside transfer at this point.

Ive done this transfer twice. What exactly is the point of going through security to catch a bus that is airside? That bus ends up going out of the secured zone anyway in order to go to terminal 1. Its a very inefficient process.

IMHO, compared to my last year's travel experience with NAIA's inter-terminal transfer, this one is more complicated and management needs it to be more streamlined and make it more efficient to aid those passengers not familiar with NAIA's layout. Multiple security screenings inside the terminals are intended for the betterment of the traveling public's safety but some of it are unnecessary (main entrance, after immigration and at the departure gate). The use of shuttle buses for passenger movement between terminals is basically an old system of ferrying passengers and needs to be improved also. The shuttle bus waiting area is small and can easily get cramped with waiting passengers especially at peak periods adding to the inconvenience. These are the reasons why I would avoid a layover at NAIA if possible. In comparison, Mactan International Airport in Cebu is way better than NAIA.

Major changes were implemented as of April 2023. Prior to that, all international and domestic PAL flights were located at Terminal 2. As flights and passenger volume increased over the years at Terminal two, the airport management (MIAA) had to find ways to decongest Terminal 2 and designated it for mostly PAL domestic flights only along with Air Asia and Royal Air while Terminals 1 and 3 are for international flights. The lack of an airport tramway system and relying on shuttle buses to move passengers between terminals is just one of the major complaints a lot of the Filipino Balikbayans and OFWs have when transferring between domestic and international flights inside NAIA.
