I discovered KZfaq a month or so ago and have given up watching TV 6 hours a day 7 days a week. Now I study different things that actually relate to my life, like how to discover if a car battery is slowly draining, how to build cabinets and drawers and cabinet doors in a variety of styles (getting ready to make new kitchen), how to install a steering stabilizer on my motor home (did it), how to solve problems with my motor home not starting (fixed it), how to install a transfer switch for shore power (did it), how to install crown molding (soon), which glues to use for various purposes, how to read the dot code on tires (needed for motorhome), how to make tamales, how to make chili rellenos, how to make enchiladas, how to de-rust cast iron skillets, where to camp for free in a motor home, what problems different motor home camping organizations have, best internet hook-ups for mobile use nation-wide, which synthesizers are still good to use and what is new in that world, publishing words and music, tablesaw tricks and uses, double-slit experiments, sourdough starter, chili recipes, scarf joints, best batteries for off-grid systems, state residence for full-time rv dwellers, troubleshooting starter relays and solenoids (used it successfully), plus tons of just interesting stuff. I spend about 3 hours each day on youtube but the rest of the day I'm using this information or doing other work on my property and vehicles plus I write, record and edit music about 10 hours per week, walk my dogs and cat 8 to 10 times each day, watch an hour of TV with my wife who just retired and hasn't found her new passion to get her off the couch. I've never used twitter or instagram so I'm glad to hear about the experiences of someone who overdid them and their resolution of the problem that they became. I truly believe that youtube is one of the most important creations of humans. It gives anybody who knows something or does something the ability to potentially share their knowledge and experience to the entire human population. This is education on a previously unaccomplishable scale and education as it always should have been. It's better than books. It has surpassed books. If school classes were done with youtube, people would be better educated for the reality of their lives.

Casey I used to watch your blogs every day back in 2015, it was an awesome daily routine to come from school and go right to KZfaq and watch such an inspiring creator. This is the first vlog I’ve seen in a few years after I moved on to different things. I was so happy to see the classic white glasses that used to inspire me to be creative. I love seeing what you’ve been up to, keep up the good work my man

If you turn your phone to black and white (for iPhones it's under Accessability > Color Filters iirc) it can often be effective in helping reach reduced consumption goals, because one of the huge ways apps become addictive is their use of bright, enticing colors.

Everything in moderation. I think as long as the balance is kept then there is also a bonus that YOU give above a number of other mainstream KZfaqrs for example. You engage with a lot of the little people. It means a surprising amount when someone who is effectively on modern day ‘TV’ reaches out and comments on something fans have said. That accessibility without intrusion is really valuable.

benzmansl65amg it’s crazy Because he differentiates youtube and Netflix as not social media’s when they are. Social media’s are an community based and communication based thing on the internet. So games are also a social media as well. So 4/5 hours on KZfaq is just as bad as 4/5 hours on ig.

shamir fisher compare the content you’re exposed to on YT to what you see on IG. I don’t subscribe to friends and family on YT. I’m not seeing everyone glorifying their lives for likes and followers. Now you can argue that YT creators to that, too. But the opportunity to see, for lack of a better phrase “real life shit” on YT is extremely greater than platforms like IG.

Proud of you Casey! You're super inspiring on every level, and this just made me respect you even more. I got rid of all my social media accounts beside IG a couple years ago when I saw myself becoming a scroll zombie. I had a point where I broke down and remade a Twitter, but I honestly found myself checking it so infrequently I forgot about it again and ended up deleting it. I get on my Insta maybe a few times a day, if at all. With the nature of your work I can definitely see how the tempation is even greater, so taking this step to regain your time was a brilliant idea. I hope its still working out well for you! Youll probably find that if you do reinstall the apps, youll still be checking them a lot less frequently after this.

Social media's purpose became a de facto. It was supposed to connect us with family and friends, but it became an entertainment platform that destroys human interaction. I've quit FB,Twitter, IG for more than a year now. I connect with relatives through Viber and whatsapp in a foreign country. You don't have to know everything in life, if friends want to say something important to you, they'll call your number.

@CaptainAlliance5 жыл бұрын
How has it become a "de facto" when it's doing the same exact thing that it was meant to do? You can't just blame your own social inadequacies on social media and blantantly make such bold claims that it's not doing what it was intended to do. People have social conflicts regardless of the medium through which it occurs. Stop blaminging technology and its advancements on the faults of human behavior and social norms.

I’ve become closer in a way to family and friends because of Facebook. There are family members I never kept close contact with, now I know what’s going on in their life (ie kids, work, and general events) I otherwise wouldn’t have a clue with if not for FB. Same thing goes for my friends; we all have our own busy life’s and it’s not like I would be talking with them on a daily basis or getting pics sent of their kids. FB allows a connection that would otherwise be missed. It’s not being a bad friend/family member, it’s just what it is in our busy life. It’s how you use it that makes it something bad or good.

I think some people 'needs' social media because their friends or family members moved to different country. It's amazing that people are having conversations about the role of the social media in their lives. I think it'll find its place in coming years. Then, we will be able to talk about other stuffs that has equal or more impacts in our lives.

I'm 30 and my peers tend to be heavily involved with their phones at all times. I think you are the perfect person to start encouraging the idea that constant phone use is not sustainable. I appreciate you making this video. My girlfriend was on her phone enough last weekend when we were at a brewery that I kind of lost my wind in my sails. Jason & Daunte Parrillo I doubt its one take. That would make editing a nightmare, he gets the shot composed, presses record, gets the shot, then presses stop. Then moves the camera to get the next shot composed, presses record, gets shot, presses stop etc etc.
@jay_mp45 жыл бұрын
@@omgurheadsgone this is exactly what I meant
@omgurheadsgone5 жыл бұрын
DJay yeah, making a cinematic video requires a lot of shot variance, using a mixture of wide, mid and zoom shots, and it’s much more appealing to watch. I was responding to the person asking if Casey does it all in one take and just moves the camera around and does zoom all while filming one take and then edits all the stuff in between shots out after, which I highly highly doubt. Never heard of anyone shooting like that lol. + there are times he for sure he to be swapping lenses from his ultra wide to at least a 50mm or 85mm you can just tell by the framing and composure/bokeh of some shots that wouldn’t be possible with an ultra wide, no matter how close you get to the object because of how ultra sides distort the image and lack the ability to get a shallow depth of field.
