Following the assassination of Akkadian king Rimush, his elder brother Manishtushu was declared the new ruler. In this video, we go through the reign of the third king of Akkad, who managed to avoid constant warfare and elevate trade and prosperity across the empire.

To think that Akkadians could campaign as far as Turkey (with Sargon) and eastern Iran (in the case o Rimush) is mindblowing. Horses were not introduced until centuries after the empire collapsed. They had only war chariots moved by donkeys and onagers.

Turkey is Ancient Greek Land for around 4000 years. Turks conquered it in 1453 and called the land Turkey

Definitely my favorite King of Akkad. Surrounded in so much mystery yet accomplished so much. Plus, literally the dad of one of the greatest leaders of the Sumeria empires.

Many of the original historians didn't even believe the Akaddians were real..until they looked like they should have. Tada!

Finally Elam gets to shine. At least for a while. And i'm not that surprised that Manishtushu was killed by members of his court. You can see that coming with any king or emperor.

Good job, Wanax. Keep up the Akkadian series till the end of their period. The mysticism of the 3rd millennia Near East, combined with the fine illustrations, kept me mesmerised till the end.

Well his sister was Enheduana, the first named writer we know about. She was the first in a long tradition that extended for two millenia after her. The high priestress of the moon god since Enheduana was the king's daughter. So in a way she was sacred.

I learned Geography largely from Crusader Kings 2. but with the map zoomed in :D "Uh, wait. wait, where are we HOLD UP.." pretty bad on my part :D THIS CHANNEL IS TOPS :) it's like everyone is connecting dots in life? This connected many for me.. rather, God already connected every dot :D i'm just.. is this itching ears? :D "God didnt tell me enough!" idk. :D The Word is perfect :) to me. Werent 2 wheeled chariots introduced to Egpyt by the Hyksos in the 17th century BCE? It would stand to reason that Mesopotamia didn't get them much earlier.
