Manly ferry Narrabeen almost ran into Fort Denison island after trying to avoid another smaller vessel.
Someone who was on the other vessel told me my preamble in the video is inaccurate. Fair enough, I am not trying to blame anyone here, my point of view is just based on what I saw/heard as a passenger on the ferry. Not sure exactly how we ended up in this situation and an investigation by OTSI is underway to understand what happened and make recommendations on how to avoid this in the future.
AMAZING job from the pilot and the crew who managed to control the ferry not to hit the other boat and also not to hit Fort Denison. I think we stopped about 10m away from the fort and the front of the ferry brushed the green light beacon just next to the fort. At that point the captain managed to reverse the ferry and pull away from the Fort and we continued on our trip to Manly.
Once again, the captain and his crew did such a great job in such a little time!
