Taking it as a metaphor, Lera gave up on controlling the car, slides off the road and hits a tree [when you try to leave there's a branch all the way through the car]. All of your past is your life flashing before your eyes, you're in a meat prison, but the meat prison is your own body. There's no ending where you survive because there's no ending where you *could* survive. Either you let yourself slip into sweeter memories or you struggle in spite of the futility to go on a little longer.

Welp, as a russian person myself I can agree that this game captures my life perfectly, from freezed car doors to dodging flesh/mold anime girls in old apartments every single time when I come to see my family.

It's not a maid costume, it's a soviet school uniform. Being familiar with almost all shown places and little artifacts of past carefree childhood makes this piece of art really, really heartwarming. Thanks for showing us this wonderful little thing, Manly.

Nothing feels better than starting your day by watching Manly playing a new RPGmaker horror game. Also wow, the game is so well made with the assets and everything.

I like to believe there's something more past that door then death. That he made it out. I believe that place specifically feeds off of people like him, stuck in the past. And that by denying what it wants, and trying to look forward, it no longer could stop him.

Fascinating, surreal and genuinely disturbing at multiple points. This was excellent, I'm amazed it's a free game and, from what I can tell, the developer's first title. Here's hoping it's not the last. That segment where the facade or normality is dropped and the rooms just kept shifting like nonsense until you met back up with her is the highlight of the game for me; her alien logic but also sincere wishes to be kind are excellent, but that display of insanity and creativity was perfect.

Oh my lovely God, its russian atmosphere again. How magnificient flesh horror coloborates with it. This five floor houses called "Khruszhevka" and this yard in begining of game... great thanks to creators. Подмигнул мимопроходящим русскии. :3

Is this game a spin on the philosophy of Thus Sprach Zarathustra? Everything about accepting suffering as part of life, and the "happy ending" being actually a bad ending where you reject pain and rejoice in "death" and nothingness does sound like something Nietzsche would write. I want to imagine that, were he born in this day and age, he would not forget to include the cute anime girls into his books.

This has got to be one of the fastest times a game has gotten me to care about a character to the point where I’m beginning to tear up. Nika is a great character. I’d love to see a game centered around her and her possible escape.

There should be an "Unflappable RPG Protag" reward for Lera. Jokes aside she seemed to handle the situation pretty believably. In general I liked how grounded the atmosphere was despite the surreal environment. Nika is quite likeable, a perfect representative for the creature to dole out their message. Hell, if I was in this situation I would have let her convince me of the hopelessness of the situation in a heartbeat. Yeah, overall it gave me Saya no Uta vibes as well; I can definitely relate to being in the same melancholy bittersweet mood after. I love/hate to eat up existential works like this, they really stick in my head. I am still struggling to find the words to describe how it makes me feel even now.

I watch the creator on Twitter According to one post the apartment complex is supposedly a monster hiding as a building that took Nika in. I might be remembering wrong though.

I have a feeling there was a "Save Nika" ending written, and then scrapped, somewhere in development.

reminds me of Saya no Uta, not just because of the similar imagery, but the whole aspect of a cute girl who wants to experience life, but they are in fact a monster (or more specifically, a humble herald for monstrosities)

Without anything after the ending where you refuse to accept death, it seems clear that you must die anyway. I guess it would just be too drawn out and morbid to actually have you try to escape for a long time and then die. Whether the meat building is metaphorical or not seems like a question that loops back on itself, since the girl says she made the place out of the main character's memories to make him happy. The appearance of the building and how the main character experiences it is individual to him, but the realm is fundamentally the same for everyone. It seems like it's a place where people who want to die are drawn into in a misguided attempt to end their pain. The "building" understands the beauty of life perpetuating itself through endless recycling, but it can't understand how that could not be a comfort on an individual level to the life that has to die to be recycled.

Kinda reminds me of "the flesh that hates" SCP, but a lot less aggressive.

Really happy to see another game in a slavic setting. I really adore the style and art in this game. It's detailed and really well done. That outdoor scene of the apartment complex in the first two minutes of the game really blew me away. Really wonderful work from the artist. They're very talented and I give my kudos to them.

Even with how subconsciously (and sometimes outright) creepy this is, it's quickly becoming a comfort game. Something about it feels really homey, and you can tell a ton of care went into it

_When someone asks me if I want to be part of something "greater"..._ My answer is usually No. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust is Tru and fine. I'm ready to join the great cosmos _after_ I die, and not a moment before. I know we all share certain commonalities as people, but each of us is still unique. We each should meet our expectations, not those of everyone else. I enjoyed the game's Soviet-era aesthetic. Very interesting.

This game actually made me cry. It just made me miss my childhood, especially since it’s my first year at college 1,000 years from my hometown. The game captures sad nostalgia really well

My interpretation: The character is dying and has a choice: to struggle for life to bitter end, suffused in fear and suffering or accept it, embracing good memories, justifying their death as being part of life/greater whole/meat cycle.

This "aesthetic" is just tipical small Russian town. The abandonment and eeriness is accurate. Also girl wear Soviet school uniform. Also their names probably are abbreviations from Veronica and Valera.

It’s sad that there isn’t an ending where they just live together and be some sort of happily ever after (even if the protagonist will die she can die with him or maybe they can create a family together since she never said if can have a child or not)

This game is disturbing, depressing, thought provoking, and oddly comforting. "You don't want to die, you only want to escape from suffering." I suppose that really is how it is. It's hard to know how to feel about it when my own mind is the cause of my suffering. It feels like there's no escaping that. It's too bad you can't leave and take her with you. But as always, every Manly let's play is a good one.

As usual I am commenting like 3 minutes into the video but aaa!! I love this game's aesthetic. It's distinctly post-Soviet. Very relatable grey building hellzone. People have probaby already told you, but the maid outfit is what USSR school uniforms looked like at one point, hence it being several decades out of place. I think in Russia they still wear them at times, but only for special occasions like graduation and such.

I feel like this game is about defeating depression and I kinda like it the meat kinda resembles your body and the girl is your mind to be happy and fight it until the end of time no matter how much time we waste until we beat it and never lose hope by getting lost because there is always a way

Wont deny that a small part of me would want to try to get her to escape with me in some way. She's esentually forced to be alone & bait to lure people deeper. If she can't leave, I'd try to stay by her side without being consumed. She might be a puppet of whatever that place is, but has enough individually and self control to aid a person's escape.

I really like the feel of this game (psychological horror-esque) but similarly, I do wish that the True end was more fleshed (haha) out Very Silent Hill + Jacob's ladder feel! And def reminds me of that visual novel I heard about called Saya no Uta

This game gives off serious song of saya vibes lol. Angways, the ‘meat room’ is probably the delirious state between life and death since the girl says she made it off his memories and he was involved in a car crash in a near dying state in the beginning of the game, he has the choice to spend the residuum of his life reminiscing of the happy memories or to clinging to his life in inutility but eventually he has to depart from the door that leads to death

It’s lovely, I don’t know how to describe it. A perfect balance of creepy yet comfortable. And all of these lovely games made possible by a single engine.

Well... This was deppresing and weirdly comforting. 10/10 for the writing and the atmosphere. Really cozy, even with the slight eerie vibe. Probably because the buildings, the rooms, the kitchens, the carpets, everything looks so familiar.

This is one of the most creative and well paced games Manly has played imo

something about this game kinda...makes me uncomfortable idk, far as i understood it sems like the protagonist suffers from depression or something and just wanted to be gone, and this girl seems to try to make him live forever, the moment where the stair and other rooms were random, i think it was the protagonist memory colapsing or just overthinking or getting old memories maybe? maybe that girl is a past good memorie? trying to help him or maybe a childhood friend or maybe, the entire game is the protagonist memorie, seeing as how some rooms are kinda dirty and destroyed, maybe is his bad memories? and the perfect ones are good or normal memories the flesh that consumes everything might be depression, something that consumes your mind, like a mold, untill it's nothing but one big mass OR MAYBE, the flesh is that the girl is creating is...supposedly, a good world, since after the enters it, u cans see some areas with meat at the walls (at the background) a place were u can be happy, were all the good things u wanted in your life, are actually real

This game is heavily inspired by Saya no Uta, I see! All of this beauty and comfort being nothing more than meat being processed by an ill mind. Being a fan of Saya's song, I adore this piece really much! Also the whole Soviet Union atmosphere is unreal, the creators must be crazy talented people

It is, it truly is a horror game.. I am glad i can see people's comments and Manly's commentary, it comforts me to know the opinions of others. It feels scary, the idea of experiencing the game by playing it myself, let alone imagine myself in Lera's shoes.

In the true ending I think there's not anything more shown because that's not the point. In the happy ending the entire point is seeing the end, being part of the whole, and having friends again. In the true ending the point is making the decision to live. To go home, see your family, see your mother's cat, and to see what else life has in store for you. The point is discovering the rest, and letting your imagination predict what future lies before you. Even if that future is just a painful end being swallowed by an uncaring flytrap.
