How do I know I won't get banned with this app?
With Mantis (and any other keymappers which use Universal Touch Mapping), it's nearly impossible for an App/Game to detect whether Touch Mapping is being executed.
Why?
- Because although Overlays can be detected, the Overlay running apps' identity cannot be. Hence it'd be harsh for a game to ban their user for just this as there are plenty of legit Overlay use cases.
- Because the Touch Mapping is just Emulated Touch Injection and no different to actual touches. Again making it undetectable.
- USB Debugging detecting is easy but can be enabled on the device for multiple use cases. Again not at all conclusive enough.
And Companies do not ban users unless they are 99% sure about the unwanted activities. Banning even a single account wrongly leads to massive PR issues.

The new pop window for device pairing doesn't work right splitscreen on Samsung tablet. It blinks on and off every few seconds. If I could simply enter the pairing info in the last step of the pairing it would solve the prob.

Serious question: would I need to have the other device used for activation to be always on mantis pro? Or do we simply need to activate it and we could promptly uninstall mantis pro in the other phone?

You'd need to keep it on the other phone as when you reboot your phone with Mantis, you'll need to re-activate it again

No sadly not unless you get a phone with Android 12 which you can activate Mantis on the phone itself (as per the video in the pinned comment)

Nope, you still won't get banned 👌 There's a rumour that controller support is coming to Genshin on Android in the future anyway so hopefully one day it'll be native support. Until then, Mantis is not a problem 👍

Awesome. I couldn't get it to connect with Type-c to Type-c, but it worked with the OTG adapter. It's not an issue with the cable , since I used 3 different cables and all of which I've used recently for an external SSD .

I hope this was sarcasm. Because this is anything but smooth and uncomplicated, I just want to download an app and then immediately go into a game in key map things to my controller... Not have to activate something through another Android phone or a PC...

Hi @Android Addicts Are certain games like Call of Duty mobile and others not supported with Mantis? I’ve been using Mantis on my Shield TV for last few weeks, some games work fine like Mario Kart Tour, Crash on the run etc But others seems to have issues with button mapping, using the official Nvidia Corporation Xbox controller. Really pleased using Mantis, would like to see mouse cursor incorporated in later versions hopefully 🙂

@@andrewwhitfield5480 I like testing new material, Nvidia key gamepad still suffers issues and is not perfect in itself. I solved Mantis inquiry I asked above anyways, after adding new button binds/keys in game I would have to drag and drop the desired bind over the action command via that game.

@@WUCATILLY I'm fully immersed in the Android ecosystem for work and pleasure so I get that you like trying these apps. On that note one app to try and watch for further development is the Odo Gamepad mapper. No root or any type of activation required to use. It's analog input is buggy but here's the thing that makes it standout. Say you have a game like Pubg where the analog is natively supported and works with your controller but button presses for action don't work this app can be used to bind only the corrections you need to make without disrupting native working inputs. I use Odo Gamepad with Winter Studio's remake of Resident Evil 4 and it makes the game completely playable with a controller.

If you've also done what Otis above has done then try using the ActivateWifi.bat file after it disconnects

@@baris-icin-savas disconnects is a pain and happiness a lot. Try Clear Defaults in the App info. Always works for me after that.

Am having trouble using this method with a usb to usbc converter as the Target device is not able to access the host device. not sure if it is the adapter i am using or if it is because both cords are not usbc.

After setting everything following what's in the video, the app isnt working. Its not mapping the buttons X A Y B. Whenever I try to presd these button nothing is showing in the screen. The only thing I can put in the screen are the d pad and both the analog stick yet even the d pad and analog stick arent working after putting it in the exact location :(. Restarted the phone and reconnect the gamepad yet still having the same problem. Im using realme c25 and Ipega 9099. The game Im playing is anima rpg. Im not sure if it's compatible with the game or not.

Only when you turn it off. If you don't turn off your phone or the debugging is gonna stay like that forever.

i wasn't succesful when I tried to activate via PC mantis buddy bc after I extract it then it opens instantly but closed that instant also. and my phone is running android 11 also with that I have xiaomi phone. I couldn't find accessibility. which android ur phone runs?

How often do you need to activate it? I did it yesterday on pc, was working fine last night and today, but tonight it wants me to connect to mantis buddy again! Kind of a pointless app if u need yo carry 2 phones or a pc with you all the time to keep activating it!

It needs activating every time the Mantis service gets killed off (with a phone reboot or just when your phone clears it down out of RAM)

i have root and the app asked for it, I dont have a 2nd phone but it says its connected, and it doesnt work, testing buttons and calibrating, even in game doesnt work, using an xbox one s bluetooth controller

It's only necessary if the game you're playing doesn't already support a gamepad - and also if you don't want the game to detect you're using a gamepad...

Hi there! Would you be able to help with a small tutorial or the right screen to map specifically for Cyber Hunter? I tried mapping it in the options/controls menu but it didn't seem to translate to the actual game and in the in-game mode, the Green Mantis icon dissapears on me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like you might have something killing off the Mantis app whilst you're playing. Did you check the permissions at 1:43 to make sure you disabled permission monitoring (if you phone has it)

I used Huawei Matepad since they give you a free keyboard. I tried using this method only for my phone to be activated and not the tablet.

Hello ! I got it to work on noth my hp and laptop, but I just wanted to know if it still needs to be plugged in to be used on PC ? Cause right now I've got it plugged to my laptop. I know for hp it needs to be plugged in, and tht sucks my phone battery super quickly so I'm on my Laptop now

Connected mantis on my device, finished mapping the button/commands, but when i try to press A button, nothing happened, im using an X3 wireless gamepad........what im trying to say is when i press buttons nothing happens on my screen, does it need specific gamepad?, mantis can read my gamepad tho but nothing happen when i press buttons (except for the "start" button in order to change phase)...please help im playing genshin impact

I'd drop the developers an e-mail and tell them your setup - they're very helpful and will be able to tell you if your controller is supported

Because Android OS is blocking that feature by default. Rooted phone hasn't that problem at all.

Why does everytime I close genshin, my dualsense buttons won't recognize in game after I open it again? I had to restart my phone and activate mantis buddy all over again everytime I have that issue And yes my phone setting "disable permission monitoring" is always on

Very good, now turn off your phone or just turn off the app and leave the house, if I'm on the train or on the bus will I be able to access Mantis and connect my joypad without having to do it all again?

You'll need to re-activate if you turn off your phone or restart it. Also, sometimes the background service can get killed by your phone so always check before you leave the house!

Doing it this way means it can't be detected in-game...which means you can't get banned from PUBG etc....

Make sure you don't have any other apps which use the floating widget permission...I had a screen clicker app installed which stopped Mantis from running so I uninstalled it and Mantis worked fine.

what type of usb-C cable do i need for the data-transfer? Is there a specific OTG cable that i should use or is it always OTG when its usbc-usbc?

No, the USB-C to USB-C is not classes as USB-OTG. Think of it more like a way of converting one USB port to a different type. The adaptor I used here is overkill, something like this would do just as well: amzn.to/3c7aUjP which is just converting the USB-C to a USB-A female port. You could then use a standard USB-A to USB-C to connect to your other phone. The USB-C to USB-C cable I'm using is just a standard cable that came with my S20 Ultra last year.

im using a razor gamepad and an xbox controller and none of the inputs are being read on the calibrator, but both are recognized and my controller does work on my phone.. the app doesnt want to take any of my conrollers actual input

It won't but Mantis on your phone will become inactive at some point - whether you reboot or the service dies you'll need to re-activate it again

Yes! If you need to bring up the keyboard then you'll need to choose your Input Method. So on the screen in the game where you'd normally type something in, you need to press the little keyboard icon near the text box (on Samsung phones at least) and select your input method. You'll see it'll say "MantisService" so change it to your phone's normal keyboard (mine is SwiftKey) and then type what you need to type - then, and this is important - set it back to "MantisService". Sometimes you can select the input method of your phone from the notification drawer too. Hope this makes sense 👍

Most controllers will either come with their own app or work with most games out the box. This app is only for games which DON'T support a controller natively

You need to enable the Floating Widgets permission. Try uninstalling Mantis and re-installing and it'll ask you for that permission again

It's so you can use a gamepad on any game you wish. Not all games support a gamepad but this app allows you to map controls to the screen and play with a gamepad anyway. Make sure you don't have any other apps which use the floating widget permission...I had a screen clicker app installed which stopped Mantis from working/recognising input so I uninstalled it and Mantis worked fine (you can just disable them too). You can check in your Accessibility options (on a Samsung that's in Settings - Accessibility - Installed apps). Just make sure everything else is turned off in there.

I activate it using PC but somehow after awhile I charging my phone and the app get deactivate itself without me rebooting the phone, so annoying because I don't have second phone and need PC everytime

If that happens, try running the Activate WiFi .bat file and see if it'll reconnect it for you (without reconnecting to your PC)

The overlay stopped working for me. Samsung Note 10+. It won't open over games anymore. Support hasn't gotten back to me. It's been a few weeks. Anyone knows how to fix this?

I'd suggest you uninstall and then re-install the app. That way you know all the setting will be reset and you'll need to re-allow the 'appear on top' permissions etc

Wow that's not good! I have found the other apps which have permission to draw over the screen (floating window) need to be disabled for Mantis to work.

Did you allow all the floating window permissions? Maybe try uninstalling and re-installing the app

@@AndroidAddicts already did that but its not the solution; I already fixed it by opening the codm app on Mantis app, when codm already start, open the mantis app in 'open in pop-up view' mode and its working perfectly fine. A little messy but its working.. Sorry if i cannot explain it that well, English is not my first language 😅 Thank you for the helps btw 👍🏻

You shouldn't need this app if you're already working fine on your OnePlus phone. It's only for apps which don't natively support controllers 👍

When it disconnects try running ActivateWifi.bat and see if it reconnects it for you wirelessly...
