@@jackeylee0513 No that's the result of training his whole life to be able to be that quick and agile for his age. His health certainly is most impressive also. Most people die young and few make it to 80 even. Not everything is about fighting. People today would just blow your fucking brains out if you put hands up in the streets. It's not about adding inches to your dick to be the man, it's about surviving in this fucked up world and living life to the fullest. MMA is not just Muay Thai and Ju-jitsu. It's called MIXED martial arts for a reason and it's not limited to a human cock-fighting cage either. Plenty of MMA fighters cross-train in various kung-fu disciplines and exercise regimes and have benefited. No-one gives a fuck how hard your roundhouse kick hits the leg but many do when they see someone like this who's still got it at such an old age.

This elderly gentleman signifies one MAJOR thing that makes me prefer traditional martial arts over MMA. Look at how well he moves at his age. Yes, maybe MMA can beat TMA, but I really don't want to be all beat up and sore when I'm old. I want to be like this guy if I reach his age.
@vandamme63796 жыл бұрын
blockmasterscott I dunno man, I know Thai boxers and old BJJ guys who can still move better than I can. Style is bullshit, just train hard and don't get beat up.

As you get older it's not your power that leaves you, it's your speed and reflexes. However this master is a very rare example of someone who has managed to retain it and still give the other man a run for his money at 3:43. I hope he's still alive but this looks older than the date it was posted though... what an inspiration to many who train on what you strive for. Respect to him and god speed.

At 0:50 the benefits of the "Re-adjustments" and "Re-alignments" to the distance and positioning between himself and his opponent, this old man, using his "Chin" or "Jaw" to make the adjustments to the distancing?)? Maybe some old-school method of using the opponents extended fist by placing his fist within reaching distance of your chin and the sides of the jaw, thus ensuring the correct distance to "deflect the incoming hand with very little body movement, then shoots out a very direct straight left punch that looks QUICKER and STRONGER than what he was throwing BEFORE his RE-ADJUSTMENTS and RE-ALIGNMENTS. Maybe its a method of making the adjust taught to him by his master, or maybe he learned how to do those things on his own. I don't know what he is saying. I would love to see this translated to English. My analysis is solely based on what I'm seeing. In any event, this old man, is absolutetLY FANTASTIC! I couldn't say enough good things about him. I would love to be his Praying Mantis student. I got MUCH RESPECT for this old man, and the bloke blessed by God to be on the other side of this old man... I'll be back to review these gentlemen's "Hands" again...

I've been fortunate to study Southern Praying Mantis for over 20 years from a third generation master of Ip Shui, and it was taught traditionally. This is why our classes remained very small and many students gave up because the training was too hard. This Kung Fu system is brutal in fights when you fully attain the higher power levels, coupled with speed. It's a very aggressive martial art that preys on the opponents lack of a strong bridge. A proper Mantis fighter will close the gap, invading your personal space and launch flurries of attacks, which are extremely difficult to block or evade. Even boxers become disoriented because they need to keep their opponent at a certain range in order to launch their punches. I've tested my style against many of my friends who've extensively trained in boxing, muay thai, wing chun, shaolin long fist, and so on. When a proficient southern praying Mantis fighter closes the distance, it removes these fighters' arsenal of tools and makes them feel very vulnerable.

You see a lot of footage of older practioners thinking they are something. This is the real deal. If you love traditional Mantis, this is your man. Still quick at his advanced age, still a master of center of gravity awareness. We should all hope to be that able at that age. It's not just a martial art, it's a mastery beyond fighting. The mashing and bashing of MMA is impressive. But it is utilitarian. This is art.
@hemispace641 Жыл бұрын
The old Mantis Master's lesson begins at 0:30. He is displaying how he makes his "Adjustments " to his body and distancing relative to the opponent. Then, you see his opponents incoming hand deflect more efficiently, and now the right-hand blocking is more efficient. "Hand-Chasing" is the word I "hear" to identify the action of the old man's right hand following the opponents left "Incoming" hand deflecting it, then shooting out a straight right. Oh, and before the "Adjustments" and "Alignments", this old man, lands a solid right straight into his opponents chest.

The reason he is rag dolling the students is because they cannot see his next move. They are truly ignorant of his next advance. The man can hurt you. He can reverse a joint or place you in a position where you will hurt yourself if you resist. This creates fear. So to be safe they go limp and “accept” what he will do next... It’s not that they are allowing him to knock them down. They are “accepting” his force in order to protect themselves. They do not “Know” what he will do after each move. So it’s only safe to go limp like that and fall or sway as he imposes in them in order to be safe. If they actually exert themselves or resist him, he could capitalize and easily dislocate or break bones because they literally have no idea what he is going to do next. Try and understand this. He knows the form, he has all the answers for THEIR advances...they are trying to LEARN his advances... The only way to be safe is to give in to him.

You can see where Wing Chun took certain parts of other styles to be more efficient. Bruce Lee did what old Wing Chun Masters did...Improve the system through time. Like Bruce Lee..."This became the Gospel" Just like the Gracies have to learn kickboxing and and boxing to be competitive in today's MMA. When the top grapplers lose, it's to people who can defend the takedown and box them silly. Great that this man is healthy.

@dsimon338715 жыл бұрын
Ok watch the rolling elbow technique he does for a clue...He does something which you see in the old Japanese Arts when done properly, he puts his weight into their center of mass. So when he does that elbow you can see he steps to where the student was... When he pushes the student he is again going in and displacing the center of mass. What you see is the power from years of practice of taking his own center mass and throwing it out with his arms when he punches.
