I will do my best to translate his Spanish to English. 7:15 “To my family and friends form Argentina. You all might be thinking that you all did not have an influence in my career since the majority of my career was spent far from home… but being far from home I knew of your all’s efforts to watch my games, of sleeping at 3 or 4 in the morning knowing that your alarm for work would go off at 7am. I know some of you screamed insults at your television set, I know some of you would celebrate by jumping on the couches. All that got to me… and it pushed me a little bit more. And for that, thank you, to everyone who is over here, which you are a lot, and to everyone who is at home.” 11:05 to his National Team of Argentina “How beautiful it was to play with you all. What a pleasure. Knowing that in whatever court that we played in, we were going to be a group that was united. That we were going to watch each others backs. That at whatever place we were going to celebrate in, if we won, we were going to have a good time… but if we lost, we were going to have an even better time because we were going to do things that were invaluable. And that was going to strengthen our group, our bond. And therefor, for all that time, for all those friendships and all those experiences, Thank you so much, Fabricio, to everyone in the arena, and to all those back home.” 15:00 To his mom and dad Mom and dad… wherever you are…. Where are you? They should be here somewhere. Well, perhaps its better I can’t look at you straight in the eye. Thanks for giving us all we needed to help us pursue our dreams. For giving us our freedom to choose. And mom I know at first you didn’t like the idea, you wanted a son who was a doctor, a lawyer or whatever, but you gave us the freedom to choose. Dad, you being a huge fan of basketball, I hope you’re hearing this… you never interfered in anything with my teammates or my coaches, with my teams. But I always felt you next to me, by my side, rooting me on, and I appreciate it. It means more to me than any advice given. To you three (pointing to his 3 sons) yes you three. I don’t know if you know anything that is going on here. Bo (sorry I couldn’t catch the name properly) is more asleep than anything. The truth is I don’t know if you will understand anything that goes on here, I just want you to know that I am not sad. I am very happy. It is something very special that is going on here today. And if at times I may cry, it is of happiness. And that everything your mother and I do, is for your benefit. I tell you every day and I will continue to tell you even if you’re 28 or 29, but I love you more than anything in the world. And now (towards his wife) well the I would have to spend 2 or 3 hours just to appreciate everything you have done. But I will choose a pair of things. I want to say thanks, for putting up with my obsessions for twenty-some years. That the siesta had to be at a certain time, that the silence has to be total, that the food has to be this, that today I cant go out because im tired, that tomorrow I play, but that I cant tomorrow. Thank you for helping me to make all of this much easier and so that all I have to do is play. Thank you for sacrificing many summers that would have been our time, our family time spending on a beach, realaxing… for letting me spend that time playing with the guys in London, Japan, China or wherever it might be. For you being proud of me being a part of them. Thank you because I know that I stole a lot of time from you. Thank you for your company, thank you for your friendship, for your unconditional love, for making me who I am. Thanks for putting me and our kids as a priority. I will be forever in debt to you. But on a bright side I have 40 to 50 years ahead in which I can repay you and I will do whatever is in my power to do it.

Even in his speech he did not even dared to appreciate his greatness - a true player of a team sport. I hope the new generation has this mentality.

This new generation has to deal with old timers still looking for glory running here there and every where. This EGO Basketball leaves a lot to be desired. Super Stars teaming up. No satisfied with all of the accomplishments already gained. These young players had respect but it’s dwindling. “35” plus. Done. True Champions move on “Like Kidd” Coach. So much to give 🏀🏀🏀🏀

Skills & Greatness sorted in reference, Manu is my top 3 SG in the histiry of NBA. Behind MJ and Kobe, with more clutchness than Wade, had more impact to his team than Ray Ray, more of a complete package than Reggie, the Man's just a Winner & Argentina's legend!!! ... to downgraded his greatness to a "best 6th man ever" is a insult to basketball the sport itself.

Nicholas Tan - ... which caused Stoudemire to leave the bench to see if he was alright. Stoudemire gets a 1-game suspension and the rest is history. Suns were scary good that year, it was a very close series, and that suspension was a difference maker. Horry could have fouled him without the hard hip check. Not good sportsmanship.

Thank you Manu for the memories I shared with my family growing up watching the Spurs play. I remember the battles against the Lakers more than anything. How fearless does someone have to be to go right down the lane and dunk on Shaq. Manu had the heart of a lion. I remember him dunking again in the finals in 2014 against the Heat. I jumped like I did back in grade school. To me, it brings tears to my eyes for a much more personal reason. It is this fearless nature that I have only ever seen in my dad. He taught me to compete and win in sports without ever saying a word. He is a leader by example just like Manu. Follow my lead. Gracias Manu por todo lo que haz hecho en este deporte. Haz ganado en la cancha pero lo mas importante es la forma de que tu vives con humildad y respeto.

¡BIG MAN!
