Known as the black cobra of Dalal Street, Manu Manek reportedly portrayed in the web series as Manu Mundra, was highly impactful for the likes of Radhakishan Damani and Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, as assumed by many viewers.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and Radhakishan Damani has started his career with Manu Mundra(Black Cobra). They have made their earlier fortunes by shorting companies with insider information and all. People from his bear cartel have faced multiple allegations of insider trading but they settle all the cases. Jhunjhunwala is just a poster boy who always says I'm value investor but he has made money by trading and then invested that money. It's not that simple and straight forward as they tell us " He came in the markets with 5,000 rs and made 5,000 crore from that out of blue!"

Ajay Kedia or manu's followers won't face any jail time like Harshad did as in scam 1992 Ajay Kedia (manu's teammate)was in biz with Citibank and it was a big foreign bank giving good business to Indian economy and keeping up its forex reserves. Any action to Ajay would lead to Citibank which means they may threaten to discontinue in India. Soon the word will be out that Indian gov is harsh on the foreign banks and then no foreign banks would invest in India which means no FDI leading to devaluing of rupee and a fall in India's economy just after 1992 Harshad crash or 2001 k10 stocks crash. India wouldn't be able to take such a shock as one would lead to another snowballing effects. This is the reason Ajay was safe but Harshad was hammered coz govt was under pressure of opposition and wanted a scapegoat to make an example of. Also Ajay's ancestors were rich and were in trading biz for a long time. Harshad was manipulating as bull and Ajay, Manu were manipulating as bears. but at the end of the day it's always a middle class guy who came from nothing to something gets jailed and not other brokers or manipulators or Manu's followers who r now worshipped as God in stock market "the so called value investors" who knows where their funds came from...

Because what he was doing had no end. The way he was surging prices using non existent money, market would soon come to a crash (which it did). I think he was a good man but did a naive mistake of keeping the profits.

The web series did not show full details of the scam and all the wrongs which Harshad did. The prime reason why he went to jail was fake BRs that he got by bribing co-operative bank employees. Also the series showed his partner cheated him in the end when in real life there was no such character. The character of Bhishan Bhatt was fictional. As per CBI, Harshad and his brothers stole and sold the shares. Harshad started with good intentions but greed and over ambition got him. His intention was never to loot anyone but his tactics were wrong and it was only a matter of time when he would get stuck for funds and that’s exactly what happened. Do not base your knowledge of the scam on the series. There is a bit of whitewashing. They haven’t told the full story.

Rakesh's name is once taken in the series. Gopal Thakkar (Gattu) is shown as Rakesh and the other guys as Damani and Raju. Gattu also talks about becoming the next Big Bull and the rest we are seeing today.

@Divyesh Sniper bro i m serious, i know how to earn by short selling but not the concept behind it. Abhi samjho mein aapko bolu ek phone bhech do jo aapke paas hai hii nai or tumhe uske buyers bhi milenge, yeh baat practicle thodi hai. Same case here All i knew was sell at higher price buy back at lower price = profit. Don't simply comment anything if u dont know the person personally.

@cool dude vines square off means when u buy/sell some share n u want to close that deal @ that time u use the term square off its usually for used in intraday trading( transactions that r opened n closed on the same day) Say u short sell ongc @₹ 77 and later when the price is 70 u square off the positions . I. E u buy back the sold share @₹70 Or U buy tata motors at ₹129 n sell at ₹135 u can say u hv squared off the positions. Basically used to close a open deal mostly in intraday.
