50 years ago I worked at Sterling Metals (UK) making cylinder heads and blocks. Today the pattern equipment for a head would be in the region of £300-400k. This vid was amazing - pattern equipment from scratch to make some replacement heads. Not to mention the moulding and core-making skills. Well impressed. Although I did wonder how they were going to make the water jacket core to keep the head from overheating. Answer - don't have one.

t's amazing that a modern engine can be recreated using such an analog method, but what makes me wonder is why it's necessary to go through so much effort to rebuild an engine from scratch. Wouldn't it be more efficient to find an individual with the same engine in good condition and service it? Is there any special reason?
