You can tell by the look on jinshis face how much he truly loves and cares for her. In the beginning he only saw her as a tool or a pawn but that changed quickly to him actually falling in love with her. The chemistry between them is absolutely beautiful.

Apothecary Diaries has such a masterful capacity to flip a situation on you so fast yet so believably.

A member of the royal family just nearly died due to what looks like a freak accident, and the only reason he didn’t was a frantic servant girl who SOMEHOW knew it would happen and put her life on the line to stop it, and now she’s in no state to explain how she knew. Oh, and for some reason the master strategist saw fit to intercede on her behalf and help her enter the shrine. What theories would people even come up with? (Lihaku probably has more of the picture than most people, but “talked to the weird girl about oddities around ceremonial tools -> ??? -> she’s suddenly pulling an insane stunt to stop an assassination attempt” is still a hell of an escalation.) Another question about the conspiracy: Was it a coincidence that the guy from the library was demoted after he voiced security concerns? Because court ladies have been described as clerical workers, so Suirei shouldn’t have the authority to influence that.

I've had a similar head injury from fainting in the bathroom and hitting my head. I had raccoon eyes, a large cut and one eye swollen shut and when I tried to get up I could not get my balance. So the fact Maomao managed to do so much after getting hit like that is amazing. Also, Jinshi had a vegetarian meal as part of the pre-ceremony rites, not sure if you picked up on that. Every little thing has been hinted at through all the episodes. Such fantastic writing.

Laken is a high ranking official the head of the military and the master strategist so he’s highly respected in the military so if Laken married Maomaos mother then maomao is considered noble blood like the other court ladies so if Maomao sees Laken as her father then she is high enough for jinshi to marry her. So in high theory they can be together under the right circumstances.

So I heard that the ox gallstone that Maomao (almost called her Momo, Dandadan on the brain) was freaking about is actually still thousands of dollars valuable in current day. Back then they didn’t know how to make it happen, but even now that they do, it can still be $1,000s to purchase. Which explains why Maomao was so excited.

Ahh. The absolute genius IQ plays the author has created to create this assassination plot for Jinshi. How much of a conspiracy is going on? Maomao should be making massive waves through the court as people try to find out who she is and what sort of piece she is in the game. Like it or not, she’s a close associate with a member of the imperial household and there’s nothing she can do about it.

I have a suspicion that Lakan knows about the assassination plan (by his own deduction) and he could probably using the assassination as a way to claim maomao if Jinshi won't let her go.

I have it in my headcanon that the guard who struck Maomao Lakan probably would play his hand behind the scenes to deal that he faces harsh consequences! Like if the story doesn’t address it, I have it in my head that he’d set him out on the front lines of a dangerous battlefield, under bad conditions and poorly equipped!

Don't care; still anti-ship those two. Personally, I believe that no amount of coincidences is ever truly enough to justifiably conclude that a plot is afoot. I will _always_ need some form of hard evidence to actually believe that something isn't just a series of incredible misfortunes.
