after reading a lot of comments about how fast this stuff went off i was pretty nervous but i used super cold water and the house was at 18c. no problem getting through a bag. i found squeegieing the surface after wipeing made for a quicker cleanup than my past amateur grouting jobs.

The supplier told me it was 3 halves. Half a bag, half a litre of water and be mopped up in half an hour. That worked for me.

I was told by a Professional that you should push when using a caulking gun not pull as pulling does not get the caulking into the crack properly

Mix this stuff by hand in small batches. Dont use a high speed whip. Your welcome!

On my first attempt using this I used a half a bag and after about 30 mins half of the bucket went hard. 2nd attempt used 1kg which was all used. If you haven't done this before just start off with 1kg, obviously alter the amount of water accordingly. I used white on the walls and black and the floors with excellent results.

What I did wrong with 110 color, it's to light. I use only a part of 2kg package is it a reason?

This stuff dries fast, make sure to apply right away. Mine dried in the bucket because I took to long

I have used the grey grout. Does it need to be sealed?

Assuming it is a cement grout, then it does not need to be sealed necessarily. Depending on where it has been used, ie in a wet room, shower etc, then it really lies with you. You can indeed seal the grout if you wish to improve water resistance etc, however you would need to seek advice from the likes of FILA, LTP, Hagesan etc who actually manufacture such sealers. One word of caution would be that any such sealer is more than likely to darken the grout, but again you would need to be advised by these companies mentioned. I hope this helps you out.

this seems more complicated than baking a 3 layer wedding cake. Today, I just took the grout and water and mixed it. it just does not mix. Now I know why.

I have just used this but it stains instantly if you get anything on it yet they don't recommend to seal it?

You used too much water , try having it grout stained. Your grout is very porous now that you ruined it.

Used this grout in jasmine...followed all correct instructions ...when it gets wet it goes a horrible yellow and when dries out goes back to its true colour.I put a sealer on it thinking it would not go yellow ..did not work..If this was waterproof as advertised the water would not soak into it....ill never use again....

can I mix a whole bag and slow the drying time of mixture in my bucket with wax paper or plastic placed on the mix

Hi Bill, covering Mapei Ultracolor Plus with a plastic membrane will not increasing the drying time of the product. Once water has been added the reaction will begin and the product will start to set under the allotted time and conditions. I hope that helps. @@MapeiUK thank you for the response. I did my project by doing the math to make two batches (1 10 lb. bag) in case I had any trouble. it went very well. I used Mapei tile mortar as well during my remodel. definitely will be using Mapei products for any future projects

Good Afternoon Daniel, when the product is mixed incorrectly the strength and appearance is affected. This I why we recommend to mix the product inline with the Technical Datasheet and the instructions on the packaging. Many thanks.

I will never use Mapei again!!! I’m in tiling business since 2006 , and my latest tiling job was 300 sq/ft. I was using Mapei Ultracolor plus FA one bag of 25lbs and one 10lbs bag for the job Color was 04 Bahama Beige on both bags, when the job was finished color was different from bag of 25 lbs was lighter than bag of 10lbs. Common reaction from Mapei is about how much water did I use And that is just big BS , there is no difference when you use little bit more or less water I made video about it and show it to Mapei people, I’m done with Mapei for good

Found that the ratio is 10 pounds of mix to 1 US quart water (can go up to 1.1 US quarts). Should have had this info in the video (instead of just saying dump in the bag.)

what a waste of money and time, it dried too fast, I used half of the bag and it was dried in less than 20 minutes in the bucket, the color was not the same in all areas and it shrunk below the flush line with the tile. I followed all the instructions for mixing and applying.

Good Afternoon, Mapei Ultracolor Plus is a rapid-setting, flexible cementitious grout which has an approximate pot life of 20-25minutes. However it should be considered that there are many variables which can be attributed to the product drying quicker than expected, such as ambient temperatures, incorrect mixing or incorrect water content and highly absorbent tiles, etc. It is always recommended to mix the whole bag in its entirety to ensure a consistent blend of components, polymers and colour pigments, as part mixing can potential cause variations in the colour and performance of the product. Hopefully the above will help in determining the cause for the concern, however if you would like us to investigate this further, can you please forward your details including images of the bag and project with the exact method of application to technical-uk@mapei.co.uk. MapeiUK It is funny that somebody from Mapes contacted me and blamed the water, the sponge and the weather. I should have used holy water, relaxing music and low lights and maybe your grout would have worked. Instead I bought Polybend on home Depot , I used same water, sponge, temperature and same person and it looks great. Shame on you Mapei.

Conditions during the time of application are beyond Mapei's control. ALL concrete based products will suffer reduced working time when humidity is low and temps are even relatively warm (>72 F). This is also true of epoxy resins. Having read ALL of their literature on this product I have a game plan that makes me feel confident giving it a try. The mixing water will be refrigerated overnight to 38 Degrees F. The bag will be kept as cool as possible... maybe I'll throw it in the fridge too. The mixing bucket will be placed inside another bucket containing ice. This should greatly increase the working time.
