Is the 1.5L reliable?
@mariolawrence8972 жыл бұрын
@@nonono3141 I've only put 30k miles on mine. I don't have any performance mods on it, except a catback exhaust. So personally, I haven't faced any issues with reliability. What IS unreliable is the stock clutch. Around 250whp, the clutch starts to slip, and you need to replace it with a tighter one. But as far as the 1.5L engine goes. My peers have safely reached 300whp without issue. That's pretty much TypeR performance. A couple tuners in my area have told me that you won't really deal with any issues from the engine unless you try to put in a bigger turbo. Once you start exceeding 350whp, you need to rebuild the 1.5L with better components. So the SI is pretty safe and cheap to kit-out with bolt-ons, until you start trying to go for big turbo power.

These are absolutely incredible cars. When you drive one of these you can immediately tell it's a much more special Civic. It's quick, it's predictable, it has truly unbelievable handling, it does shit that it feels like it absolutely should not be able to do, even bone stock. But then even in fully stock form you can feel that it just wants more. Really an incredible vehicle for the price. Between this and the GR86, I'm sincerely elated that this ended up being my final choice. Source: Used to own a mostly stock 2018 FK7 (Civic Sport hatch, 6MT with just some Acuity upgrades for improved shifter feel) with 58k miles that I got from the dealership brand new with 2 miles, currently own a 2018 FC3 with 61k miles, with about 2500 miles being my own that I've put on since I picked it up two weeks ago. On a similar note, it's been an incredible experience to literally watch the aftermarket for this platform expand so vastly. It was BARE for a seemingly long time, but now--mind you we're freshly on 11th Gen as I write this--we have plug & play performance brakes (instead of having to hodge-podge from Accords, RSX's, yada yada), ten thousand different choices of FMIC, intakes, FP/DP/CB, BBKs, gear sets, aero, multiple choices for tuning/engine management... No shortage of choices for anything. Honda things. Thanks for the content.

Thank you for making this. I've had my FC1 since Nov. of 2018 and I love it. Currently have the PRL Cobra (street), no flash or tune, stock clutch and have it lowered on the Swift Spec R lowering springs, on Konig Dekagrams and a 3" gReddy DD-R exhaust system that sounds like pure ricey magic. I also have the only Skunk2 part I've been able to find being their universal weighted shift knob lol. This is the 3rd Si I have owned and while it's not my favorite, as that spot is reserved for my beloved and bereaved EG, it is by far the most comfortable while still being fun version of the Si to date. This isn't really modding related, but there is a huge problem with the A/C systems in this generation. I've already had to replace the evaporator and compressor in just 35K miles. Its one of those things where i was used to driving the old beat and gutted Si's of old and finally had a car with proper A/C just to have it take two separate dumps on me. A lil frustrating when you live in SoCal where its hot all year lol. Otherwise my next mod is going to be a clutch/FP DP and Intercooler combo & I think I'm going to go with KTuner due to its accessibility. They have some heat soak and the stock intercoolers are a bit tiny to be all that effective. Looking at that gReddy. Anyone pick up the gReddy intercooler and have some feedback on its performance vs. the PRL/Mishi or if MAP makes their own?
@ValkenDnB3 жыл бұрын
From what I know the greddy intercooler uses a tube and fin type of design and has two sizes meanwhile all the other ones you named use bar and plate design and have one standard size. Each design have their own pro and con so it really depends on what you plan on using your car, be it drag racing, tracking, or just plain street driving.

Three out of my 5 friends who've run that blew motors. & where did you get that Hondata is only good for type Rs? Never heard that before in my life. & im probably older than you too. Lol

That's awesome, and an insane MPG to boot!

@@jimjenkins3928 No my guy. 275 hp is perfectly fine for the Si block as a DAILY. its the sport HB blocks that are made of glass. none of your homies blew their engines at 250hp or even 275hp on the Si blocks. thats a damn lie

I had a downpipe, Intake, intercooler making 270whp/294torque through a etune from pherable then dyno’d. Stock clutch lasted all the way to my 70k. Tuned since 15k with the mapperformance stage one. Then stage 2 then with the intake and downpipe from 30-45k. Clutch never slipped and I drove it hard, but never dropped the clutch, and always rev matched. I’m currently in the RCF platform which is a completely different animal after I got a much better job. Right out of college though I don’t think there’s much that beats a 10th gen si for that price point. I loved the community the most

What year was your si? Crazy your clutch survived almost 300wtq

@@ValkenDnB 2017 first year . Bought it in 2019 from an auction with 11k miles for 20k. I work in finance and a dealer picked it up for me.

@@kaleidoscope8914 nice. Did you ever WOT before 3:5k rpm when you were making 300wtq or were you aggressive with it and launched your car and all that?
@kaleidoscope89143 жыл бұрын
@@ValkenDnB never launched, and I mostly did 3rd or 4th gear pulls for races, but even when I did race I never would never beat on it or no clutch or anything besides break boosting. I also changed the tranny oil every 25k to keep shifts smoother acuity stage 1 kit. Shift knob, bushings, pin and adapter

I’m 90% sure it’s the tune that matters, MAperformance tune is cool for stock, but they’re torque maps hits everything low which isn’t good for roll racing but fun for dailying. But pherable tune builds boost from 3krpms to 5.5k building to 28psi around 5200 then dropping to about 25 at 5.5 which is what helps the clutch not just get smacked with torque and gives it time to build ip

Hi, I'm pretty stupid when it comes to cars, didn't grow up around them, and my parents weren't always around either. Never been a Gear head or did anything more than change a tire, but I'm looking to get into it and want a project to learn on. I have an automatic 2018 Civic LX, 2L I4. Do you think I should trade it in for a newer Manual? Or should I try and swap the Trans and Clutch and buy a K Tuner? Would it even be worth it with it being the base model and not the Si?

How much of this will apply to the regular 1.5 t? We don't get the SI in europe
