Look at how Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElenney have taken over Chesters huge rival Wrexham. They hired people who have experience in football and let them deal with the club instead of deluding themselves into thinking they had any business coaching the club. Terry Smith was absolutely insane and thought way too much of himself.

As a fan of a lower league club, the terry smith saga pisses me off beyond belief, in the lower tiers, a club can fold with as little as 2 weeks notice. Clubs like Bolton and Oldham have narrowly avoided the same fate as Chester, and clubs like Colchester are currently going through it. Not to mention clubs like Bury have also been torn apart due to similar things, but not only are the deluded and to put it simply shit owners the issue, so is the efl, the efl is terrible at looking after their clubs.

Loll, the idea that you work and you work and you get there is definitely American dream and sports movie trope esque. The funny thing though is that Bruce Arena who failed to get us to the last World Cup said he learns more from watching Bill Belichick coach than Pep Guardiola. Funny story about Chester recently. They are an English club and they are right on the border with Wales and by border I mean most of their stadium is in Wales. Both our countries have different covid rules so when a Wrexham fan (local rivals) noticed that Chester had fans in their stadium (against recent Welsh covid laws) he contacted the police and now Chester are in trouble for breaking the law in Wales. They have been leaching grants off the local Welsh authorities as well for their shitty stadium and they didn't even remember that their stadium was in Wales. Now they are f-ed and could get fined. Around 2010 Chester applied to join the Cymru Premier (the Welsh top league) and were quickly told no because they wanted straight into the top league while other clubs wanting to join the Welsh ladder have to start off in the feeder leagues. They were expecting our FA to relegate a Welsh club for them even though Chester are constantly on the verge of bankrupcy. Even Welsh clubs like Colwyn Bay had to start off in the Welsh lower leagues when they stopped playing in England.
