Well as someone from the UAE our national team is more of a yo-yo in the early to late 90s we had a strong national team(in Asian standards not in the world) and reached the Asian cup final in 96 where we should’ve won but our former goal scorer of all time, skyrocketed the ball even though an open net was infront of him, early 2000s we were in a decline but in the 2009 under 20 World Cup we had a great run with the likes of, hamdan Al kamali,Ali mabkhout,Theyab awana,Ahmed Khalil and a lot of them were considered part of our golden generation, sadly even in our golden generation we couldn’t reach the World Cup, hamdan Al kamali after the u20s World Cup went to Lyon and never got game time with the senior team, Theyab awana(you might know him from the backheel penalty against Lebanon) sadly passed away in 2011 after a car crash, Ahmed Khalil,Ali mabkhout, and Omar abdulrahman played a role in our short lived golden generation, we did the impossible and beat Japan in pens, and lost to eventual winners Australia, we also played well in the 2017 gulf cup where we lost in the final, and 2 of our golden players performances dipped after that, Ahmad Khalil became unfit and started to score less, Omar abdulrahman who some called the Arabian Messi, had injuries get the best of him, and mabkhout who at one point was our only scorer for 16 matches he’s still around, but our national team performances did get better since the 2019 Asian cup where we did reach the semi finals we played unconvincingly and got lucky in our win against Australia where their defender made a mistake and we capitalized from it Sorry for the long paragraph or any grammar mistakes

As a Singaporean I just feel like my nations football is just stuck in limbo. We have a lot of talent but it's always disrupted by our compulsory national service of 2 years and we are deeply lacking in any infrastructure or financing. The government has no interest in growing our football and therefore leaves us very little to work with. The head coach is a major problem as well with how his tactics are always so defensive and spineless. I miss how we could even beat Malaysia but all we can manage now is scraping a win against Guam.
