Hi Maxwell, a Bruneian here! 🇧🇳 💛 We just finished our 2nd leg with indonesia with it being a disaster-class of a match, making Indonesia easily reaching the 2nd round of the quali with an aggregate of 12-0. It was an dissapointing but expected moment, especially when we match our scoreline result for both away and home match. I think some of the key takeaways that you may find interesting: - Ever since 2018, despite being our best player due to international experience, Faiq is yet to wear the national team jersey again for reasons unclear (i personally tried doing research but its just impossible to find anything). Rumors range from his club in the Thai League having a history of not letting other asian player to go for international duty (despite Faiq rarely even become a starter for his club) to govt/royal interference in the national team. - idk how to explain it, but any fixtures between Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei are a very big deal for us, you may even call it an international derby. So this heavy loss means so much more for us, especially with the growing population of foreign workers from indonesia in our country. We are not suprised when half of the stadium are filled with Indonesian despite it being a home match 😂 - Probably the craziest moment are during the post match interview, when one of the Bruneian players (I might be wrong, but I think its Hakeme Said) was on a rant about his frustration with the state of football and how the FABD mismanage the national team, hence the bad result.
