Most modern NHL contracts are based more on projection of future value as opposed to past performance. He peaked late.

Marshy still hasn't signed anywhere yet. There is still a chance he resigns with VGK if the other offers around the league are not as good.

Some point we needed to get younger, but Marchy was the soul of that Cup team. We won without Flower we can win without Marchy, but it stings big-time

Well what do you know. Marchy's not signed. As I said last month, this is exactly what happens when you have a jerk like Cassidy behind the bench. Nobody in Boston misses him. Marchy's about to make career money, hopefully in Toronto or Montreal where they'll really show him some ♥
