As a lifelong resident of Southeastern CT, I was in college when UConn won their first national championship. There are literally no words to accurately describe the sheer celebratory mayhem that occurred following that win over heavily favorited Duke. To see them virtually 25 years later in their 6th Final Four, and practically blowing out every team they faced in this year's tournament, brings not only a strong sense of nostalgia...but also an incredibly deep sense of pride as well. Whether they win this upcoming weekend, or not, I am sincerely elated for Dan Hurley, and this young core of talented players. They certainly deserve any and all success they've painstakingly strived for. Go Huskies!!! 🔥💯👍😁👍💯🔥

I seriously thought The Zags would make it a nail biter for us Husky fans. But this UCONN team is just so solid in all phases of the game. The last 2 titles we won felt more like magical runs, this team just looks monstrous. On to the FINAL 4 Husky fans 😎

2014 title I agree was more magical than actual skill and talent getting us there, but that 2011 team was one of the top 5 teams in the country that season, don't care what anyone says. We won the Maui that year and the Big East was absolutely LOADED sending a record 11 teams to the tournament. This team reminds me of that one in the fact that we struggled in Big East play, but completely dominated our non-conference opponents.

It's the kind of awareness that comes from a player who's a student of the game... Contrary to popular perspectives, this game is cerebral as well as simple. The more you know about how it's to be played, the more aware you are about positions on the floor...yours, your teammate's, and the opposition's. Anyone who's played this game knows that it's advantages to success on the floor is concentrated on positioning and timing...even down to fractions of inches and milliseconds. This awareness is required for all PGs and those with the ball in their hands most of the time during a possession.

@@jonm7888 theres no way. dude got trapped in the corner and the play design was to dump it off the the roller for either a shot in the paint or to kick out. Jackson somehow before it even happened saw that the pass wasnt going to get there and jumped it. not only did he jump it but he knew where the shooter was gonna be and got it there with zero hesitation. this play was not drawn up to play out the way it did.

'04 was similar with the amount of blowouts in the regionals. '04 UConn beat a tremendous Duke team in the next round before putting G-Tech to the sword. '99 UConn didn't blowout anyone post the second round, but '99 UConn did run through the Big East tournament the week before the tournament. I remember UConn blowing out St. John's in the Big East Championship game. It was stunning because St. John's was close to equal footing to UConn. Then a few weeks later UConn beat arguably the greatest Duke team under Coach K. in the national championship game.

I was on campus in 99 as a Sophomore when we won. That year was impressive before the tournament but they did not dominate like they have so far in this one. In 09 we started like assassins and then slowed down. This year very game has ended with full domination at the end of the 2nd. I got my hopes up with that start to the season. Saw my hopes drop with the up down streak. Saw them lose in MSG and gave up. Did not expect this at all. 2 more to go!!

The Zags really need to shift to a tougher conference. They just don't have the mental toughness you get from playing against higher level competition week after week. It's so obvious when they run into highly athletic teams like this that they aren't used to facing. They have no answers and no way to adjust to it, and their players know it, so they get run off the floor. If Ucla hadn't needed to slow the game down because of how short handed they were it would have happened one game earlier.

UConn has the pedigree. It doesn't guarantee championships, but it guarantees confidence. The 2023 team ran through the West Region like the 2004 UConn team did. Three of UConn's four championships started out West ('99, '04, and '11). Maybe the Texas home court advantage will knock off UConn if Texas makes it to the Final Four. while I agree with you to an extent, I'm willing to bet the majority of the demographic that watch these highlights, already follow the tournament relatively closely and knew the result before clicking. not to mention that this video will be up for years and years, and the thumbnail will give a good reference point to those that will be specifically looking for it.
