Ori in hebrew means "my light", and is the name of the guardian spirit that we play as, slowly bringing the blind, and lightless forest back to life. What a beautiful experience this game was. It was also one of the first games my wife watched me play, which made her fall in love with video games. It will always be have a special place in my life.

The true skill of Gareth Coker in the two games for this series is his ability to take Ori's leitmotif and change it in so many ways, tailoring it to over a dozen different pieces, each of them unique to the song, but identical to the original melody.

I think the Ending of wotw is bitter sweet, and it's also suggesting a sequel of some sorts(which I think the title "ori's Legacy" or something like that would be the perfect fit to it, without giving too much spoilers.)

@@DickTator6969 Moon studios said that there won't be a sequel (for now), but they haven't rolled out the possibility that there could be a prequel or spin-off of ori. Now they're working on an Action RPG and they said "If Moon Studios’ Ori is Super Mario, then the new action RPG currently in development at the studio will be The Legend of Zelda". NOW I'M HYPED.

The soundtrack of both games + the story is just top notch. When a game can make grown adult ppl cry like a little kid after 5 minutes into the story, well, thats great writing there. Light of Nibel only plays twice throughout both games, in the end credits. Throughout the first game, you hear Ori's motifs a couple of times, most prominently during the chase sequences, but never in full until you finish the game. In a way, this track denotes Ori realizing its full potential as the guardian spirit of NIbel. In the second game, Ori's theme is very muted in the very few times it's used until this plays again in the end credits. Again, this directly relates to the course of the game's events: you don't hear Ori's motifs much in Will of The Wisps, and Light of Nibel only plays for the second and final time over the end credits as Ori's journey comes full circle. In this case, it feels like the track is a recap of both games.

Yesss, my child Ori! 🤍 This is one of my all-time faves, one I've played multiple times, both the first and second games, but specially the first one. One thing I just love about the soundtrack is how layered it is (literally and metaphorically), how much it makes you feel all at once, you know. Ori's journey is riddled with so much sorrow and loss, the fear for the forests future and for theie family, so much desperation; but at the same time, is so filled with hope and child's wonder, like you said, the adventure and discoveries along the way, and the power of legacy. And I think the songs makes such a fantastic job to convey all of these all at once: the joy and melancholy of life. Gareth Coker is outstanding, and I'm happy to live in a time where I can enjoy his work through this game. Hope more Ori will show up soon here!

I recently saw your videos, because I am a big gaming soundtracks fan. Than it came to me: "omg what if he never listend to Gareth Coker's Ori and the blind Forest Ost/ Will of the Wisp?" It is my absolute favorite. I wanted to suggest it, but thought, hey maybe...he done that? Now I found this. Omg I am so happy now. I will enjoy this so much, because I know this will be great. Even tho I like the first Game much more than the second, the soundtrack of Ori and the Will of the Wisp is also soo great and has my favorite OST of all time in it. "Mora- The Spider" It did something, when I played this game. I struggeled soooo much with this boss. It was so hard for me to beat ... (only to see later, that with the right weapons and abilites, my life would be so much easier haha) When you get to the second stage of that boss fight, the Main Theme of Ori comes into place and I was never in my life so determined to finish a fight. It motivated me so much. It was just magically, to attack in the rhythm of the music. Later I found out, that the music, for example, when you play the escape from the rising water in the first game, lines up perfectly, if you played it perfectly. I could still cry listerning to Ori, because it was all so touching. Gareth Coker is such a blessing.

Yes! I love Gareth Coker's music. I mentioned another game he composed the score for in a comment on a different video (ARK:SE), it's so beautiful to hear a completely different side to his music while still hearing some of his signature styles. While Ark is a heavily combat-based soundtrack, as the music only tends to play during combat or on the title screen, Ori's music seems a lot more mystical and magical. Along with Aeralie's vocals it's so uplifting... She reminds me a little of Aya Peard who does the vocals for some of Two Steps From Hell's songs. Never played the game, but now after listening to this with you and reading other comments, I am very tempted to.

Ori and the Blind Forest is my all time favorite game. Most of that is because of the awe inspiring graphics but the music also played a part. This song played in the first "chokepoint" in the game. It's a place that you will fail several times if you havn't played it before. Normally this would be incredibly frustrating, but the smooth game play, the beautiful visuals and the incredible music keep the experience enjoyable despite the insane difficulty. This is the first video game soundtrack I purchased and I still listen to it often.

My favorites from this track are "Home of the Gumon" and "Riding the Wind". The song tracks where i broke were "Calling Out" and "Inspirited".
