Yes. He is a Navy Seal. He was absolutely courageous. Yet I believe “serving my country,” is accomplished in myriad ways. Not just in uniform but in a police car, on a fire truck, in front of a white board, on a boat as a doc without borders. And while I honor his service and his buds, Axelson, Deitz, and the amazing Murphy, I also honor the teachers, firefighters, police, public health docs. There are many roads to service of country.

You know he is a big ass bullshitter right? Multiple sources plus. You should just know nobody walking around with AK round through their brain and talking with a conversation. You know that region didn’t have 200plus men in that village right. You know Marcus only suffered a gunshot wound to the ass right? You know the mount from where he allegedly crawled to where he was found is only 1 mile nowhere close to 7miles. You know shahs men video the firefight right? You know they were only fighting like 13 men right? He has made millions off his lies. He should be ashamed. He could’ve told the truth and been much more grateful in many eyes.

For being such an amazing, tough, courageous, and patriotic human being....he is astoundingly humble! God broke the mold when He made Marcus (& his identical twin brother Morgan, I'm sure). What the world needs are more Marcus'....in fact, it would be a much better place if we had more Marcus' to go around. Not only as Navy SEALs, but just good, decent, caring people like him! If you ever see this Marcus, thank you for being so real & the good person you are! It's so tragic that you & the rest of America lost Mike Murphy, Matt "Axe" Axelson, and Danny Deitz BUT, I'm sure I speak for most of the country - Thank God you survived!!!! And, YES....you ARE a HERO! (if saying you've done heroic things works better for you, I'll go with that) Oh by the way, what you're doing now in 2015, with The Patriot Tour and all the other good stuff...Don't ever quit, 'cause you're really good at that too. God bless you and yours.

I used to think he was only survivor bc he likely didn't fight as hard as the other guys and likely duck and covered more than the others, but to survive threw all is those injuries is incredible and remarkable as it is. I'm sorry for doubting you Marcus and I applaud your strength to have to likely live with survivors guilt AND continuously telling the story and nearly having to relive threw it again and again... Godspeed But I pretty much don't like that he's having to tell this over and over in front of audiences. Let the man live his life.

My initial feeling when I started following him was the same way to just leave him alone and let him live his life. I am a 41-year-old mother of three daughters so it's hard for me to even comprehend what these fine men went through but I try to think of all of the things that I have personally gone through in my life so I try to do the best that I can - I think that the amount of responsibility he must feel to live his life fully every single day (times three) has to just be enormous but hopefully by doing this it allows him and their families another avenue of grief and recovery? Amazing story. Our family has so much respect for the United States and our military and we are so incredibly proud to be Americans God bless the USA

Yes I agree with you. The man has amazing strength both physically and mentally. I do have respect for him but a lot of what he says does not add up with the man who saved his life. Mohammed Gulab said that when he found him he had 11 magazines, marcus says he was almost out of ammunition. He said in this video he had a pic of a man who died in the world trade centre that he carried with him to afganastan but in another video he says he was given a flyer from a women whose daughter died in the trade centre which he took to afganastan. Mohamed Gulab said their position was given away because everyone heard the helicopter landing, had nothing to do with letting the goat herders go free. That man who saved his life, from what I have read marcus had a fall out with him due to what Mohammed remembers from that day. marcus was badly injured, of course mohammed will remember more than him on what happened. That man saved his life, lost family members and friends protecting him, had the taliban hunting him down for so many years trying to kill him for what he did protecting marcus yet marcus stopped talking to him over what happened . Also marcus says there was up to 200 men trying to kill him but mohammed and the navy have confirmed there was only 14-20 men against the 4 seals. I was not there that very sad day so i will never know but i do believe mohamed on how he saw things and what he witnessed. Also on research i read that in an interview mohamed was told to agree with everything marcus said and not to give his opinion.

his dad almost killed him a couple times when he was growing up, think he was 6 or 8 ish and he didnt know how to swim and he practically tossed marcus in. his dad put him and his brother close to death a handful of times. i think its because hw wanted to breed special focres/seals like marcus said it was a obligation for his blood to enlist. marcus crawled for 3 days, 6 miles. while shot up, rpg'd, grenade fragments everywhere. dehydrated, before he was able to rest. remember all the guys on the team were trying to escape and run. marcus broke his hips in BUDS training and still completed it, it may come down to marcus being the toughest of the bunch

Chilling when he pauses to get ahold of his emotions & relates the sound no human should ever hear is the pitiful pleas of his doomed, bullet & shrapnel shredded friend & team leader in agony screaming his name over & over as he realizes he is going to die in a desolate hellhole devoid of civilization surrounded by countless emotionless monsters eager to extinguish his life, knowing his numbers up & facing the lightless abyss of eternal death utterly alone. Just . . . Jesus man. All the bravado & tuff talk provided no comfort at that moment, brave as they were. I feel sick for these poor young men, wish I could have somehow been able to be there for him, to shoulder some of that fear so his last moments weren’t so unimaginable. This leaves me so empty inside . . .

The only thing he said I didn't like was that he was not a hero. He was a heroic soldier and is a heroic man. He continues to serve his brothers and his nation. No doubt, he is a true american hero. Toy stores are making little figurine toys of people and characters for our kids to play with that do not represent anything good. I would love to see GI Joes for our boys made from men like Marcus Lutrell, Michael Murphy, Mike Thornton, Mike Monsoor, etc. Figurines made from Medal of Honor winners and other heroic officers.

They were soft comprimised by goat hurders. My question is..there must have been a trail there if goat hurders were walking by, so the seals should have realized that people have been by that area at some point. Ahmad Shah had already been tracking the SEALs before they encountered the goat herders. They already knew of their presence in the area before the herders found them. The "unarmed civilians" most likely told Shah where the SEALs were as soon as they let them go. When the SEALs relocated after being compromised, they were ambushed by Ahmad Shah himself, and 6 or 7 other men. It was an entirely one sided fight.

Huge fan of our armed forces as I am a former soldier. I like how he tries to be an inspiration to other vets but this guy is milking the teat of his dead brothers. Who wouldn't be dead if they would have killed the enemy or tied them to a tree or anything other than the obvious dumbass decision to let them go. They do their job and no one knows who this guy is and countless other us military members would still be alive to do their jobs today. So I get he's trying to turn a bad situation into something good but it never should have happened in the first place. No that doesn't mean I don't respect him as a man an American or a seal just saying our choices affect more than just ourselves directly.

He seems to champion the shoot first ask questions later retaliation mentality against "those people". Without discretion mentality. That's exactly what the suicide bombers do though. I know it's a dynamic war and he recognizes there's some good people, but why the "those people" mentality?

google Marcus Lutrell.....he has changed his story so many times...even the villager who rescued him and said when he found Marcuss he still had 11 full ammo clips but was told to agree with everything Marcuss said......there were 7 Taliban who outgunned the Seals...Marcuss hid and was found by a villager...but that's not a hero story is it. so Marcuss made it into a better story.......do some research on this.....the army guys who recovered Mickey and Dannys and Axes bodies didnt see one Taliban dead....

I have an you are correct about his story changing but all i can say is he was their regardless what people think the man was their an he lost some of his buddy's that he grew up with why do you want to make him out to be a bad person ? Those people you are talking about that their was no body's most likely retreaved their dead could be wrong about it but most likely thats what happened an you do know they hate your guts an would kill your mother if they had the chance so talking bad about our men serves only them
