Yes he is perfectly clear on the subject. But I don't think we should classify the Met 2012 production of the Ring as an avant garde production.The Bastille, the actual Bayreuth or the justifygly production of the Wagner Tahnauser production in Germany with gaz chambers and so on, which had to be stopped due to the protests of the public are avant garde provocations productions just for the sake of shocking and without the single justification to accept them.He is a very sensible guy!
