This gives one an idea how she stood for so much and how she survived through so much ! So happy to see subtitles with this ...she remains an enigma her Schubert last Sonata makes the earth give way before you ! So much intelligence and one feels it immediately in her Bach ! What's Schnittke doing there ? He is amazing ! She doesn't clip staccatto in Mozart she clips the time . Everything is strange , unusual with her ,. Wonderful to hear her Bach concerto : the conductor is with her plan : again not we are accustomed to hearing . !

Wonderful documentary, thanks for posting, and thanks for the English subtitles. The reminiscences of Yudina's colleagues and students deepen even further (if that is possible) the mystery of her performances and the extraordinarily generous character of her life, and her soul.

Richter had some interesting things to say about her in the book titled notebooks and conversations, just look in the index. "no longer sounded like schubert or chopin but yudina" p51 "an eccentric woman.. who always felt the need to invent things" p52 in other words nearly everything she played she played in her own way / re: a recording of hindemith's 3rd sonata "...here she doesn't get up to her usual mischief but remains true to the text" p189

God, how I hate those Russian documentaries... They manage to make any message unviewable, unlistenable just by the very intonation, the musical background. I force myself to watch, just to learn the real stuff, but stylistically, it is a torture.

@user-em6gu1sg5o2 жыл бұрын
@user-le8bg9dn9l Жыл бұрын
