Because of this cover of Mariah i just remember how i loved the original by Ms. Irene Cara ( gee my age lol) and moreso Mariah's version this has more soul (dont get me wrong the original is awesome too).. When Mariah does a cover she makes it her own Her voice sends chill down my spine amazing only Mariah does this to me no other artist can . younger lambs, don't know Irene Cara's out here on my own., this makes me cry everytime, because it has a lot of soul and passion and Irene wrote so,.. This is one of my fave song 💚 her version should be from the 'all that glitters' soundtrack supposedly. And she's the one who also wrote and sang the soundtrack for flashdance

Irene didn't write this, but she did write the lyrics to "Flashdance ... What A Feeling", which she did win the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Interestingly, "Out Here On My Own" and "Fame" marked the first time that two songs from the same film were nominated for Best Original Song.

she won her first talent show with "out here on my own" but she never released this or another irene cara song as a song up until now. she won an oscar for "when you believe" and she has nothing to do with "what a feeling".

Hm... Lead the Way is probably the most Oscar-friendly of all the songs, but from what I remember it’s not featured that much in the movie (I may be wrong... I’ve only seen the movie twice and it’s been awhile haha) so I could see producers not wanting to push that one as much as something like Reflections. Tho Didn’t Mean to Turn You On is my personal fave! -Steele

The reason why Mariah is THE VOICE for me is because anybody can sing and sound like Whitney. That's why her(Whitney) songs are always used in singing contests. But Mariah, her voice is one in a gazillion. Nobody can ever sing and SOUND like her. LITERALLY NOBODY!
