they actually do it that way in perfumeries because fragrances change from the bottle, while being sprayed, through the air, and finally on the skin as it changes to compliment your natural scent.

She speaks in that voice during her interviews. She sets her voice to a very low register to conserve her voice i guess. But when she is performing live, you can hear her higher chest voice in her speaking voice while shes talking to the audience.
