It’s so shocking to me that this isn’t it normal anymore. Elegance and femininity should be common in women. Our society has change so much that people think it’s boring?? Oh my gosh I don’t know what to say. Maybe accept how sad.😞

Elegance, boring? Never! Elegance is the art of restraint, or as we used to call it, good taste.

Most western men consider western elegant ladies to be boring - especially the young ones who try too hard to be beige, blah, minimalism... blend in with the wall and nobody cares. A little bit of elegance mixed with a little sensuality and a lot of fun goes a long way. Over-restraint and blending with the wall isn't an art, neither is vulgarity

Agree👍👍the art of restraint is elegant. To me that is synonymous with nothing too sexy, too trendy or too suggestive. Elegance is not up for debate, it’s been around for generations

It's my observation that women who think that elegance is boring are accustomed to that which is loud, brash, crude, and obvious.

I agree too👍elegance in todays young people is non existent sadly. Tatoos flip flops crudeness, how sad. I’m happy to see channels which bring back this lost art of elegance. A good book I’m reading which someone mentioned on their channel is “The Old Money Book” how to live better by spending less by Byron Tully👍👍recommend it highly

Thank you for the great ideas! Personally I don’t think things that are to tight or revealing are particularly sexy! I’m in my mid 70s, so for me to feel sexy is associated with feeling confident! A pair of skinny jeans, a loose black sweater and a pair of lower heels pumps or low heels booties makes me feel sexy! Also add a long string of pearls, to finish the look! Thank you for sharing! 🤗😍

I always thought that there's some special beauty in simplicity so I find it really sad that nowadays elegance is somewhat looked down upon. I think that Olivia Palermo, like you mentioned, is a good example of someone who mixes more trendy pieces with a lot of classy looks and keeps it balanced. I also like to get some inspiration from Cate Blanchett, there's something so refined about her. But, obviously, there's so much more to elegance than just looks. :)

I adore Cate Blanchett's style! She looks like a serene, ethereal yet highly glamorous angel every time she steps on a red carpet.

Yes, that is a good choice of words. :D I think her street style is also quite impeccable, she definitely nails this whole classic but unexpected vibe. Lots of super classic cuts and silhouettes in bright colors. I will forever be in love with that floral Valentino gown she wore with ballet flats.

The most elegant woman I ever saw was an older lady. She wore all black. The too was a high neckline. The straight skirt, ankle length, had a slit up the side that showed a bit of leg as she walked. And she walked with purpose. Her head held high. Very confident and very elegant.

It seems that elegance isn’t acquired in am outfit, it’s a way of life. Growing up, I was taught not to put my feet on the table, don’t stand while you’re eatimg, don’t leave the dishes in the sink overnight, don’t speak out of turn... etc maybe those rules would seem out of place in society now, but I’m grateful that those rules built the foundation and now an outfit is just the window dressing to complete the look

Hi Mariana, I really love your content on elegance and everything around it, and it’s not just the fashion but also the mindset. Beautiful timeless pieces will always set one apart from anyone who’s trying too hard to be on the trend list. I just feel that elegant and timeless fashion frees your mind from keeping tabs on the latest trends all the time and can still make you look and feel so good! Anyway, IMHO, if you find elegance boring, you are not doing it right..

I believe our own style is a reflection of our personality. If you feel that your choice of clothes convey your personality, I don't see why you should feel pushed to get out of your comfort zone. There's nothing more agonizing than wearing something just for the sake of being different or to challenge yourself and feel uncomfortable in the process. One should always feel at ease in one's outfit. I see that you enjoy wearing scarfs and acessories, and that's how you manage to bring a focus point to an outfit. So, perhaps venturing into incorporating more scarfs in your daily looks will help you to achieve that spark you might feel you are missing on your looks.

This was very enjoyable to watch. I'm 72, so I'm passed trying to look young, but elegance is elegance, no matter the age. You touched on some good points. Have you done a video on elegant color combinations and colors that are hard to be elegant? I think orange may fall into that category. What do you think?
@MarianaZelenjuk
@MarianaZelenjuk Жыл бұрын
Hi Susan! I'm glad you liked it ;) I feel the same way as you do about orange. Same thing with certain shades of baby pinks... for some reason they never look right on me. I guess it's a question of skin tone and specific shade of those colours. Great video idea!
@edennis8578
@edennis8578 Жыл бұрын
@@MarianaZelenjuk Pale pinks often do need certain skin tones, especially if worn near the face. I also think they need to be paired with the right colors; I like white, ivory, pale gray, or beige for the most elegant combination. I've worn pale pink with ivory and I think it looked very elegant. Orange happens to be one of my best colors (wouldn't you know it?); I've worn a plain lighter-orange silk shell with a straight ivory silk skirt and simple gold jewelry. I think it looked elegant. That said, I have to be careful to keep a streamlined look. I can get away with a bow at the neck of a neutral outfit, but clothing with any pattern or non-primary bright color has to be minimalist or I tread on "gauche" territory.
@edennis8578
@edennis8578 Жыл бұрын
@@MarianaZelenjuk Also just to add, I only wear orange in the late spring, summer, and early fall. Once the color of the sunlight loses it's yellower tone, late in the year, I look sickly in it. Where I live, the daylight takes on a distinctly blue tone in the winter; I don't wear orange then, or under fluorescent lights for the same reason.

Orange can work well with navy, cream,, taupe, brown, burgundy, and gray. I have seen it presented in an elegant way at a museum event when a woman wore an elegant navy dress with structured orange heels and a structured orange purse. A belt and heels could also work.

Mariana, I would tell you to keep dressing tastefully but don't get too serious .....you are young, pretty and in shape so do some experimenting. There will be enough time when you will want or need to be more covered up as the body parts go south! I guess elegance looks at bit different when you are in your 30, 40......and on up. Your seem to be looking for your own style and I think you are on the right path....enjoy the journey.

I don’t think stilettos are chic at all, but a nice, medium block-heel definitely is. What’s chic about not being able to walk from the car to the restaurant? Stilettos might be ok for very fancy evening events, but they look cheap for day wear, especially with skinny jeans and a sexy top, yuk!

I think elegance is also about the way you carry yourself and the way you walk. Sexiness is the same for me, you can be covered, not showing much skin anywhere, but you walk sexy because you feel sexy, and of course, self-confidence, not related to the clothes you are wearing but related to who you feel you are and what you do in this world. I loved your video. Thanks a lot for sharing your ideas.

This is such a wonderful video Mariana! Elegance is so beautiful and so much fun to play around with. Your explanations are perfect as to how to be elegant and feminine in different ways. I long for the days when woman dressed like Grace Kelly and men dressed like Cary Grant, what style and elegance - that is very wearable even today! Thank you for such great content and for standing up for elegance, femininity, and manners!!! May the world become more like this once again :) May the Lord bless you and keep you always, take care!

I think elegance is interesting. The wearer becomes the focus and not the exposed skin or the loud fabrics or cuts. You want to get to know women who cloak themselves in mystery and whose clothing screams sophisticated. I think TikTok has other social platforms are drowning out what true sensuality is. Knowing your worth and having the good sense to share with only those who truly deserve it.

When ever single piece has the same point of view, it becomes a costume. This costume in particular was worn heavily in the telenovelas of the 80s.

The way western women try to be elegant, western men absolutely HATE it! Especially everything beige, minimalist, boring etc. Too much of everything is bad. Equally they hate anything too sexy, too much... just wear what suits you and don't dress like you are trying too hard to be liked. Most western women take elegance to the extreme, blend in with the wall, look ugly and nobody notices them. But I especially notice at a Michelin star resturant where I stand out because I have my own personal style and am not tying too hard to be elegant but at the same time know how to have fun without being too vulgar. The best is not to be too beige and boring but not too sexy and too much.
