If only the M's could get a player with a 143sOPS+ vRHP. Here is a guy who did this last year vRHP... 365pa, .256/.375/.890 slash line with 19 HRs. Played DH & 1b. He would be their BEST hitter. Yet he remains unsigned awaiting a call... Brandon Belt. At least give a minor league 10 day look and judge from there.

Maybe it’s the old school in me but with Munoz only at 17 pitches, why wasn’t he sent out for the 10th. It’s a closing situation , an extra 20 pitches won’t hurt him. With the all star break coming up, he’ll have time to rest. He’s already unavailable for next game, mind as well get the most out of him. Again, that’s a closing situation , hence why you named him the closer. He just got done striking the last 2 hitters. He was in rhythm. Now the Astros are one game behind 🤦‍♂️

Okay, I'mma be honest, why is Muñoz even pitching in the 9th in a save situation? And I heavily disagreed with this bullpen selection last night. You have Voth in a save situation when he's never even been in one? That absolutely befuddles me. Probably should've used him in the middle innings or somewhere in that line and have Stanek or Muñoz close it out. But aside from the questionable decision making the offense burned and crashed until extras. Just terrible. And the M's better win these next two if they wanna look good against the red-hot Astros (and maybe be comfortable in the playoff race in that scenario)

An interesting game indeed

This game was a good game but play Central problem for the Angels is hitting. It does not appear that they have a very good hitting coach. Ward is slumping. It looks like he uses way too big a bat that he rests on his shoulder until just before the pitch. He looks at an awful lot of good balls to hit and cannot get the bat speed to catch up with many other strikes. Neto has difficulty with curveballs and Sliders. Nolan Scahuuel stands with a fairly close stance with the bat way up high above his head and crowds the plate. It is impossible for him to hit a ball on the inner half especially in the lower part of the strike zone with that positioning. It would be impossible he needs to back up from the plate open his stance and get the bat down out of the sky. It looks very unnatural and awkward. Anthony Rendon has a very awkward stance that does not produce power and does not use leg strength much. As a result he does not hit the ball deeply. Overall there's a general lack of contact hitters with the exception of Calhoun. Adele has a lot of potential but again has difficulty making contact. A lighter bat will always be able to make better contact and generally many of the angels are using way too big a bat. Moniak has a lot of ability but strikes out an awful lot as well. He could benefit from a smaller bat. Generally A Rod Carew type open stance without trying to head home runs will produce a lot more contact a lot more runs and a lot more sustained rallies. The angels have a lot of good players who can steal bases once they get on. Pitching is another matter with all the pictures that we have lost with Detmers and Selseth still in the minors. But that is a different topic we must get more hits than we do however.

Yes, we had other opportunities and earlier struggles, and yes, we did finally get some decent bats in a close game, but the pitching overall decides to quit now. Can't have it both ways, can you, Mariners? Dipoto and his 54% is too strong, won't let you compete when it counts. Go figure.
