This will actually be the sixth Mario & Luigi game! (not including remakes) And it's first time on a home console! Also, the DS games were actually the second and third games in the series. The first one was actually waaaay back on the Gameboy Advance over 20 years ago! 😊😂

There are actually five Mario & Luigi Games: Superstar Saga, Partners in Time, Bowsers Inside Story, Dream Team Bros. and Paper Jam Bros.

So for context, it's been about 9 years now since we've had a new entry in the Mario & Luigi series. The last two games we had were remakes of Superstar Saga (previously on GBA) and Bowser's Inside Story (previously on DS).

I genuinely thought the M&L RPGs series was dead with Alpha Dream shutting down, RIP. I'm curious to see who's behind the helm of this game and see what they come up with.

The villain designs are VERY Alpha Dream imo. So I wouldn't be shocked if some of the people from Alpha Dream got picked up by whoever is making this.

Apparently a lot of Alpha Dream were taken to work for Nintendo internally after the shut down I heard :).

@@AStupidID I hadn't heard about that. I was definitely heartbroken that they shut down, but I'm glad Nintendo at least didn't leave them out to dry completely

The first Mario & Luigi game was on GBA. Loved the series from the start. It has a lot of charm. I cannot wait to give this one a try.

This probably the coolest announcement in June not only a return of a Awesome series but being something that grew up watching a ton of fan animations that use the sprites from the old games I can’t wait to see what this game will inspire for fan animations in the future

For everyone’s knowledge this is the 6th Mario and Luigi game. (Excluding 2 remakes) so in order to M&L superstar saga (game boy) M&L partners in time (DS) M&L bowsers inside story M&L dream team (3DS) M&L paper jam (M&L and paper Mario crossover (probably considered the worst game in both franchises)) M&L Superstar saga + bowsers minions (remake) M&L bowsers inside story + bowsers jrs journey (remake) And finally M&L brother ship (switch aka first console M&L)

I've been replaying the 3DS remake of the original game Superstar Saga on GBA. Good to see a return to a classic RPG Mario series.
