Hi I’m The Time Machine I’ve been listening to your channel for quite a while and I will say I find your history documentaries to be super amazing and I love them. But if you don’t mind would you be willing to make a documentary on your channel about Walt Disney The Founder of the Walt Disney Company? I know you can create on your channel whatever you want but if you could do that I would really appreciate that?

Well done! I had no idea that Antony was responsible for putting Herod on the throne. Oh if they had only taught history in such an intriguing manner when I was in school!

What an excellent biography. I have always kind of pitied Antony for being the maker of his own demise. But as a hopeless romantic, I understand his foley. One thing is for certain though, he lacked Octavian’s shrewd political mind.

I’ve never understood why such a Brilliant General who served as J man’s right hand. Decided to fight a decisive battle at sea was it Cleo ?

Indeed, this is why we've named the video "Lover of Cleopatra" because Cleopatra was central to Antony's life and his love affair/alliance with her is what he is best known for to most people. She and he are remembered as a couple for a reason.

Don't think Antony even planned to fight at Actium, Octavian's military mastermind Marcus Agrippa blockaded their fleet, and besieged their camp. The sea "battle" was actually a botched escape attempt.

Interesting he was forced too. I’m sure Cleo pushed him too. And he was a great General J man trusted him in the field. Julius could have picked anyone he chose Anthony. Shame his administrative skills didn’t match his generalship though.

Hold on now, Antony was a great general, part of the Triumvirate with Augustus and Lepidus. A power in Rome and protege to Caesar. Why in the blue fxck is "Lover of Cleopatra" part of the title to this simplified biography? As if that's even 1/5 of his achievements or importance. Cleopatra's biography should be "Lover to Caesar and Antony" since that IS what she is most known for. That and being the last of the Ptolemys which is extremely sad.

What actually happend to the children? I read that the boys were murdered after the death of Cleopatra and just the daughter survived.. do you know more about that? sadly, most of the time the children are forgotten.. just like with Marie Antoinette.. were quite brutal times

Cleopatra’s son by Caesar was killed because Octavian’s entire claim to leadership was being Caesar’s heir and Caesarion’s existence threatened that. Antony’s eldest son by one of his earlier wives was executed for being heir to Antony’s will. Cleopatra’s other kids by Antony were allowed to live. The two boys didn’t really do anything important for the rest of their lives, the girl married a famous Numidian king. Antony’s two daughters by Octavian’s sister ended up having descendants that were Roman Emperors.

A silly illustration occurs to me... 1 Caesar = 1 brilliant politician + 1 brilliant general 1 (late) Pompey = 1 brilliant politician + 0 brilliant general 1 caesar {+1 Antony (1 brilliant general) = 1.5 Caesars} > 1 Pompey 1 Octavian = 1 brilliant politician + 0 brilliant general 1 Agrippa = 0 brilliant politician + 1 brilliant general 1 Octavian (.5 Caesar) + 1 agrippa (.5 Caesar) > 1 Antony (.5 Caesar) Lucky for Octavian to have a politically unambitious pal like Agrippa...
