It was really a dumb counter offer against cuban. He literally just made same offer as cuban just 5 grand more. In reality, 5 grand is nothing for those sharks. In a partnership like this it is redundant for that type of money to have a meaning, because the action of injecting the company with money separate from the initial offer is to be expected. They wont let a company where they invest in die just because they are short 15k. They will definitely help them out as long as they are putting in the work.

Richard Branson is an athlete and an adventurer, and his entrepreneurism has been WAY more creative than Mark Cuban's. I think both Sharks had an emotional interest in the kid rather than a business one - he would have been equally well served by either of them, although I'm not sure about the actual business prospects of his product.

Branson was smart…he didn’t propose any real contribution to the strategy, and played a sentimental card instead…5k for him is nothing but for the young kid was a carrot. Mark´s offer was strategically better for the kid at this stage where he needs help with the marketing resources. The other proposal for the loan was also good but doesn’t give any market and business support to the young man, who probably needs it at this stage instead of fighting on his own with the cash in hand
