Mark Driscoll has been releasing all his sermons from his past on his new personal channel. But there's one sermon that he's uploaded this week that might grab people's attention. His most famous moment is when he screamed "How dare you!" at the men in his congregation. Most have criticized this moment for its clear marketing potential, over dramatization, crude language, and the complete lack of agency for any of the women in Driscoll's stories. In uploading the sermon, he also gave his reasons why he believed he yelled these words and at the same time he officially becomes Mayor of Gaslight City because it's a doozie.

It's scary to me how much Driscoll is rising up again. I have a coworker who is in an Egalitarian church. She got married last year and her 1st year of marriage was rather problematic. She asked me if I had ever heard of "a Pastor named Mark Driscoll". I literally rolled my eyes and said, "Girl NO!!!" but she just went on and on about how much he is helping her marriage. I asked if she knew about his church in Washington and she argued with trying to say he had never had a church in Washington. "He's in Arizona....blah blah blah....". It's so scary!

AND-- didnt he say before when describing finding out about his wifes abuse -- "if I knew that, I wouldn't have married her" ??? The fact she stays with him is baffling.

Mark is using his wife's trauma as a prop for his ego. I would be livid if my husband used my pain as prop for his super man rescue mission.

What made my stomach drop was his statement that this is how he treats men in counseling sessions behind closed doors. How does that make this better rather than revealing something arguably worse than yelling at a large group of people?

These guys who fall from grace then rise up again do it because they have had a taste of the Man God pie and can not ever give that craving up . They know nothing else but to use their brilliant scaming talents to elevate their egos and get adoration, power, MONEY, in the name of GOD. And the wives who stick by them are for the most part just as greedy for it all.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. I don't understand why no one talks about this? A cussing "preacher" is no preacher. Regardless of what else happened at mars hill.

I personally enjoy Mark Driscoll and his preaching style… I’m not a “follower of Mark Driscoll”. I’m a follower of Jesus Christ. I don’t always agree with Mark, but I do appreciate the tone he often take with men. I’ve been convicted by many of his sermons, and it’s helped me grow as a man. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I appreciate your analysis and critique of Mark Driscoll. If I’m honest, I’ve listened to him on and off for a while even back in the Mars Hill days. He’s often talked about his struggle with anger and frustration. We all struggle with something/he’s not a perfect man by any means, and I think he’d be the first to admit that. Enjoy your podcast a lot! If Mark Driscoll isn’t your style, I can understand that as well. But I still believe he’s preaching sound doctrine and loves the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart.

@@jfbreese thank you brother… I’m really disheartened by tearing down Christian leaders. We are all human, and we all have sin in our life. The whole reason why we need a savior! Just because you lead to church doesn’t mean you’re perfect! We should be building each other up instead of gossiping, and tearing each other down … With this man’s podcast, I see a lot of the latter…

@@pears0094 I totally agree. It's important to remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 7:3-5, where he teaches us to remove the plank from our own eye before pointing out the speck in our brother's eye. It's NEVER okay to assume that God has called us to point out the faults of others. Vengeance and judgment are His alone. Yet this KZfaq believes this is holy behavior, and may one day be getting paid by KZfaq to do it, if not already. It's true that criticizing others, especially Christian leaders, without examining our own faults first, can lead to a divisive and unproductive environment. Something this guy is clearly building his audience around, with hopes of prospering I can only assume. While it's essential to hold leaders accountable, we should do so with humility and love, focusing on building each other up rather than tearing each other down. Criticizing others, especially prominent figures, attracts attention and builds an audience, and sadly, Underdog Theology is claiming to do it in the name of Christ. It feels as though he believes his calling is to disclose mans shortcomings.... yet I've never heard him talk about his own sin, or the sin of his close friends. Just big names. Hopefully his audience reminds him the it's essential to ensure our actions align with the principles of love and grace that Jesus taught.

So I knew nothing about this story before I saw this video. I also don't know much about Mark Driscoll beyond his name. So I don't bring a bunch of preconceived notions to this story. I will say this. A reporter from Christianity Today saying he confirmed that this event occurred in all services ... that isn't evidence of a lie. That's just an assertion by a journalist. Does he possess public statements from those witnesses? Do we know who they are? Are those statements in the public domain? If all you have is the word of the journalist, then you didn't make your case in the video. This doesn't mean you are wrong. It means you didn't gave grounds to accuse someone of lying. Tbf, i stopped at the 51 minute mark to go to bed, but I judged you had finished the segment by then.

A pastors job is to guide people to Christ and to lead worship. They achieve this by bringing people out of their worldly behaviors and marks calling is to focus on the men. Men move more with a harsh approach. Do you think the speeches to the councils in the first part of Acts were monotone and said in a nice way? Same with Galatians. What Mark teaches on is an epidemic in America, so my challenge to you is to take this topic and teach it or preach the way you think it should be. The reason why Mark is so popular isn't because it draws on angry men. It's because he's the only one preaching on what to do with boys that refuse to become men or don't respect women.
@ThisisPam

Nope. The reason Mark is so popular is he destroys, blocks, or slanders anyone who exposes his bullying, attacks and ungodly behaviour. Check out “cult of personality” related to dictators and other corrupt leaders, and you will see a reflection of Mark’s behaviour. He has a bevy of followers who run around blocking and deleting any comments or tweets that call him out. If you talk to anyone who has actually known him personally, they don’t want anything to do with him. He’s a dangerous wolf masquerading as a great preacher, and I don’t say that lightly.

Hey Dean cool video. I have a few comments. Concerning Marks explaining his sermon . For me it doesn’t pass the smell test I know when I am being presented with fertilizer . You mentioned about the popularity of the podcast of the Rise and Fall of Mars Hill , and why folks still are attracted to Mark . I don’t believe that most evangelicals have heard it , or that they trust Christianity Today . I have recommended it to those that haven’t given it a listen it’s ok but I do have a few concerns about it. Not it’s honestly but it’s presentation. I think the story is pretty one sided and is more of an opinion piece than a news story. Which is fine but I think it should be pointed out . Also the use of background music is questionable. The music’s tone changes depending on what’s happening . It takes a different dark tone when discussing Mark’s actions vs a lighter tone when others experiences are shared. It doesn’t disqualify it I still recommend it . I just would caution others about that point. There is a reason why we love Luke’s and Indy’s theme and get jazzed upon hearing Vader’s theme. Good points today, one final note. That segment on JMac was funny. About the 🫏 . Remember it’s not a curse word. It’s in the KJV 😅 Blessings for you and the family
