The set up and writing for this was great. For example, The Dark Troopers are shown to be formidable opponents, Mando only just defeats one and he is about as tough as they get. Then Luke comes in and just ploughs through dozens of them, demonstrating how strong he is. This kind of writing is non existent in films 7-9.

I thought it was pretty profound how they set up Han’s death: Starkiller base was consuming a star, and the sun shined on Ben’s face while Han tried to get him to turn to the light. But when the star is completely devoured, everything darkens and red light overwhelms Kylo Ren’s face before he ignites the saber.

@@ricksterdrummer2170 They could have had Han and Leia's kids be proto-jedi (which I sensed was the intention from the setups in Force Awakens before KKK killed off the story threads) and Leia as a proper jedi not a Mary Poppins in space immortal goddess, with Luke mentoring the kids and HAn maybe having tension with his old friend Luke by being a bit like Uncle Owen "That Luke's just a crazy old man". That was what I was hoping to see while Carrie and company all still lived before the attempted assassination of those beloved characters, especially Luke's, but his appearance in the Mandalorian has not only healed those wounds but it feels like it saved Star Wars itself as surely as the Falcon's last minute intervention saved Luke so he could destroy the first Death Star. KK must have felt like the Emperor being chucked into the chasm after all her hard work to destroy Luke was undone in a single episode of The Mandalorian by people who actually love rather than hate Star Wars.

@@ricksterdrummer2170 It could have been about his struggles to teach the next generation. The teacher is usually a supporting character in stories, the way Obi-Wan was in the first movie, but you should be able to tell a story from his viewpoint instead of that of his student, or students. Trying to find a way to get things to the student, maybe having a student who is a bit too rebellious and hotheaded and he needs to save that student more than a couple of times while still trying to make the student do as much as possible and preferably save himself while Luke is there in a more advisory than acting role. That first movie could have been of him, or him and Leia, trying to locate the right students and make them come with him, the next of him teaching them while moving more of the story to them, and the last be of the students coming to their own.

@TheArthoron
@TheArthoron 2 жыл бұрын
I did not cry then, but I cry now, watching others cry in that moment. I have said that going to the movies is not the same as Streaming. In the theater, it is a shared experience and there is this kind of Mob Mentality that takes over. Your emotions are fed by those around you. Can you imagine if that had been a Cinematic moment and 200-600 people all experienced that moment for the first time, together? All over the country in the same week? It would have been 1977 all over again! The crowds, the lines, the hype! Seeing it with a small group. Even a small group of like-minded individuals is not the same. Go watch the reaction videos again. At least 3 or four, coming from all walks of life and from all over the world that KZfaq is allowed. The reactions are nearly universal. I wasn't quite as emotional because I figured out where they were going as soon as Ahsoka refused to teach him. It all came from Season 4 of Rebels. Ahsoka was saved from death by Ezra Bridger in the World Between Worlds. She LIVES! But if her being saved was not to be alive to teach Grogu, then it was to be alive to send Grogu to where he COULD find a teacher. And there was only one Jedi we knew was alive at this time. AND if he took him, it changed the Sequel Timeline. Ben Solo was no longer his First Apprentice and Moff Gideon no longer continues his cloning experiments for a subject with a high "M-count".. And that changes EVERYTHING else.

im one of the few who likes TLJ. Luke was such a great jedi that he was able to realize that their code was flawed. I love that he felt despair and fear after Ben even though thats against the jedi code TLJ also ties in well with EU in that one of lukes students gets possessed at one point by Exar Kun (strongest sith of all time), and gets trapped in an alternate dimension so it makes sense that he would seclude himself. I like to imagine luke was never even alive in TLJ but an apparition from that alternate dimension come to guide the future jedi. Even without that retcon, based on TLJ Luke is the only jedi to ghost while still alive. It might even be considered a shatterpoint ability which is the strongest in the SW universe.

I have never been a big star wars person I've seen a movie here and there I've seen a few reaction videos of this...and to see grown men break down in tears to the point the snot is running down uncontrollably was amazing and truly made me appreciate the fan base and just how much it means to them. Also would love to see a real mark Hamill reaction to people crying seeing his younger self
