It's still amazing to watch him at Live Aid. Dude was in front of so many people, amongst so many incredible acts, and he just goes up there and demolished like it was just another day at the arena.

I was all of 8 years old when Sultan's Of Swing appeared. I still remember the first time I, along with my family, heard it on the radio. I've loved music from the womb (Dad was a radio dj before I was born) and Mom and Dad had good taste along with a modest record collection. Mid-winter night in Central Texas. On our way to the cinema to see Superman when the song came on the radio. I remember all of us immediately reacting and then wishing they would play it again. While I could not begin to comprehend the imagery and the world conveyed in the song at that age, I could get the feel and mood. Many great musical impressions courtesy of Mom and Dad while Brother and I rode in the back seat of that Monte Carlo. I still get that feel every time I hear it and it's connected with great family memories. Neil Young and Humble Pie were two other cherished favorites in the car as well. Years later I would meet and become friends with John Stainez who signed the Straits for their Phonogram deal. Interesting chap with an incredible/impossible collection of 45's.

Some fact checking for Gary and Guy. Mark played on Slow Train Coming in 1979 and Mark both played on and produced Infidels in 1983. John Fogerty played lead, wrote the lyrics, wrote the music and produced all the Creedence Clearwater Revival records. His brother Tom played rhythm guitar and that's it. Tom was also very jealous of John's talent and they were estranged when he passed away several decades ago. John doesn't record new material anymore, but he still plays and his adult children join him on stage.
