I've been to all of Mark's concert tours since 2008, ever since I had the money to do so. I flew across oceans to watch him play and sing. My admiration for him keeps growing, I'm as much in awe today as I was when I heard the first(1978) straits' album in 1982 - it was a cassette given by a friend. Eddie Van Halen died the other day, and that must be so devastating for his fans. I'm sitting here in my living room with a drink this evening, watching hour long Mark's videos (lovely ones with brian johnson & john illsley), and thinking - it feels so good that he's around - what'll I do when someday he's not. And my short prayer is - lord let mark be with us many more years. Spare him for this planet. It needs him.

@biaora I like what you wrote. I’ve been a wicked lover of Mark Knopfler / Dire Straits since 1978. His music continues to be medicine for my heart and soul. These videos of Mark are a gift and are so appreciated. My sincere prayer is that Mark is healthy and doing well. 🙏🏽❤️ Peace, love & prayers, Denise from MA

Dear Mark Knopfler! I'm not sure you will ever understand the significance and meaning your life has been as a role model and guitarist/singer/bandleader/writer/musician/human/friend/familyman..etc etc etc...but rest assured, those of us who grew up on your music as the front man of Dire Straits will always be grateful! Your finesse and masterful guitar tones and playing as well as your wonderful vocals and magnificent writing can't be compared to any other. You sir, have given the world, the best of the best, first class act, and shining example of a compassionate, man of music. May the lord bless you and keep you. Thanks Mr. Knopfler! Thank you from the bottom of my heart....forever an American hillibilly...and loyal fan.

I have only known of Mark for a year or so. I used to be a truck driver and listen to the radio going down the road and I'd hear what I thought was Bob Dylan on the radio and I thought "boy Bob really did a good job on that song. I quit drivng a truck a few years ago and heard the "Walk of Life" and asked someone, who was that and they told me it was Mark Knopfler. So I started researching his music and was I shocked. Mark is a year younger than me and I never heard of him, so I have been researching his music and documentries and have learned a real love for him and his music and song writing. I missed a lot of his music and life but am trying to catch up now.He is an incredible man!!

Mark Knopfler is a regular guy and yet so much more. I am and will always be a Mark Knopfler fan. It's inspiring to see someone reach their FULL potential and then continue to evolve and change as a songwriter. This man is such an inspiration to so many of us who grew up with him and have followed his amazing career. There aren't' many people to look up to out there for both children and an adults. Mark is one of these diamonds in the rough who anyone of any age can admire, enjoy, and deeply respect. His humility is inspiring. I hope Mark lives to be 100 and that he will keep making music for us all as long as he continues to be inspired. The music really is a gift. Mark you obviously have good taste in women because Ruth Moody is just fantastic. I hope to continue seeing her on your fantastic records. Guitar legend and terrific human being. Thank you for sharing your talent

I first heard Mark play on my big brother's car stereo back in 1978 when the first Dire Straits album came out up here in Norway (by golly, where did the years go?). It was something completely "different" in the sense that here was this rock'n'roll guitar player who didn't use distortion - and he didn't even use a plectrum! In the following years I learned every solo and every little guitar fill on those first records. I've listened to and been influenced by many players since, but Mark's music has been a continuous source of inspiration to me these last 37 years. Looking forward to hear the new album! All of Mark's guitar tones through the years have been sounded fantastic, but I must say it's really nice to hear him getting back to the clean strat tones.

This is just gorgeous. I wish he did this track by track thing always, it helps me a lot understand the messages of the songs and then they just kind of make sense. It makes me understand the process of thinking of this genius. It also helps me with the guitar when I try to play them later. I love how he tells stories related to the songs and anecdotes. It just makes me see the song differently. Magnific. Thanks a lot for the work you have done for music through all this year's. Greetings from Spain. Hope you do concerts again. having seen Bruce Springsteen go through softer phases and still come back with some hard rocking songs...and as David Bowie's recent work also was pretty strong...i think Mark Knoplfer could still write something rockier...and it be good ...and it still be enjoyable for him....i don't know...maybe he got bored with doing the Dire Straits stuff as he has gone through a lot of different phases...but i think for sure he has it in him to write a great rock song..if he wanted to of course. :D

Mark to me is probably the most gifted musical artist caught between two centuries. I originally started to listen to him when I tired of another artist and also got depressed over the state of world affairs. My streaming service claims to have between 60 and 100 million tracks but when I get my monthly review it always comes back mostly Knopfler and Dire Straights. I decided to listen to music rather than pay attention to the news. (Best decision I ever made.) Then I started to track the lyrics of each of the songs and became amazed. Why would an artist from Scotland and raised in England write a song about a highway that runs between Detroit and Toledo? Or about the Mason Dixon line? Then I read the lyrics to Why Aye Men and realized that I knew some of those economic refugees when I was stationed in West Germany in the late 70's and early 80's. Thank you Mark Knopfler!! P.S., "Yer no Chet Atkins though..." :)
