Hey All! Another Saturday, another gelli printing session :)…Today we explore some super fun mark making with play-doh! You all know I love to play around and experiment. There is nothing like discovering new product combinations and pushing the limits on how to use our studio favs. As the end of the year grows near I’m in a studio purge mood. I was inspired to make these studio scrap journals using file folders as a method to store scrap ephemera and gelli prints for easy access. Enjoy & Happy Creating!

The repurposed folders are ingenious and I love the organic look and feel they have, they are really beautiful! My studio is filled with stacks and piles too!! I really enjoy your art journal idea. I made a book to hold all my used postage stamps. I had a bunch of scrapbook paper I did not like and several packages of stamps. I jellyprinted over the scrapbook paper, making all of my pages and very simple cover. Using the vellum to make pockets to hold the stamps. I saw the video by Rachael at Roxy Creations with her ephemera book. I have a bunch of heavy duty file folders I found at an estate sale and I think I will do something similar with my ephemera. Plus next month I am planning on signing up for your pattern so I can get more in depth with your classes.

Oh my Goodness❤❤..I absolutely LOVE your idea..I am actually cleaning/clearing art and fabric stashes today and I took a break to watch your video and yesssss you are speaking to me today❤ because I am definitely a visual person and I came across some vintage Japanese fabric that sadly I had forgotten about🙋🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🙆🏾‍♀️..so Im only keeping what I love and the rest is going to the reuse art store so I have a week to get ready for the next video..Thank You so much for all that you share!!!🥰🤗❤️

This is an awesome gift idea as well. I could do the file folder and put a collection together for the recipient to create a collage.

Great idea as always! I think I'd like to organize each folder with similar papers - whether in size, colors, or shapes. Not sure yet. But I LOVE seeing what I how I can use up all my Gel prints!!!

Great idea! I'm actually in the process of making a 'Rachel style' pockets notebook! For small die cuts and embossed pieces. AND I have ExACTLY the difficulty you described, with larger and odd shaped pieces as well as things like pieces of fabric, só this really is VERY useful AND pretty! I make journals in several styles and tend to use more variety of colors, I'm wondering if organing contents by dominant color might be useful ( or even possible... ) 😅...

I am VERY new to this Gelli printing interest and am just trying to get a clear understanding of what it is… before I actually try it I have seen many vids on the craft and this one has been very interesting to me But I have to ask why copy the stamp with putty then put that on gel plate to recreate the print….. why not just stamp it with the stamp in the beginning….. the only thing I can guess would be not getting all the medium on the stamp……y’all please help my confusion lol

This is probably a dumb question, but why not just use your wooden printing block to print onto the gel plate surface?

@@mireillefruin9363 What doesn’t work? Robyn also suggests using foamie stamps (if one doesn’t have wooden print blocks). I do have those, and I have used them successfully on the gel plate. So why doesn’t the wooden version work?

The paint or ink adheres perfectly to the foam and can be transferred without a problem. But I find they don’t adhere to the wood (except maybe printing ink which I haven’t tried). Furthermore, woodblocks have often been carved down to very linear patterns while the play dough gives us the negative which is much richer. Hope this makes sense..?
