I first saw this trend on Instagram by Leanne Daquino Art, so I looked into it on KZfaq to see what else I could find out about others that have tried using Play Doh to create textures or impressions to use on the Gelli Plate.
I used the Dollar Tree knock off brand, but I think it worked just fine. I washed the paint off between uses, but I have seen others just keep folding the paint into the Play Doh and not wash it off. It did make it slimy while it was wet, but once it dried, it worked again perfectly.
I used my Play Doh - aka Modeling Dough on my fireplace screen, two clay texture plates (stones and bricks) and a candle holder.
If you have tried this technique, do you have any tips or tricks to share and what have you created textures with? If you have not tried this, what else would you use to create your impression? I now find myself looking very closely at all objects in my house to see if I think I could use that texture with the Play Doh. 😂
