Phil Anselmo absolutely can sing glam stuff. He did, in fact. He was dressed in leopard print spandex with flowing locks and crop tops and bullet belts like everyone else in the mid 80s. But, the thing about Phil is he can sing anything he damn well wants to. I don't think people give Phil the credit he deserves as a vocalist. Dude's a BARITONE, for crying out loud, and would regularly hit E5 and G5, which is well above what most professional tenors can sing. They just went in a different direction, is all, following their muse. Pair that versatile of a vocalist, lyricist and front man with the incredible musicianship of Pantera, the production and business skills of Vinnie, the enthusiasm of Dimebag, and you've got yourself something special.

Oh I feel like Phil has the capability to sing a ton of stuff. But his voice is just so, so perfect for this type of music.

I went to the Dimebag public memorial service in Arlington convention. Temperatures were around freezing and people stood in line for hours to get into the service. EVH was there along with Jerry Cantrell and I’m pretty sure Zack Wylde was there along with VP and Rex. If I’m missing anyone it’s cause I showed up drunk and just got more drunk as the night went along. They served Black tooth Grins and Coors beer which was Dimebag’s drinks of choice.

Yeah his death was a tough one to get over. I was a mess when we lost EVH, but at least Eddie had a chance to make amends with folks and just generally enjoy the time he had left on earth. But Dime didn't. It was so senseless and horrible. Thanks for checking this one out. I hope you take a look at some of our other content, too.

Still the best metal band ever! It’s just so so full of energy and groove and melody at the same time! It was a new kind of metal - 32 years ago and still on time 😜🤘🤘🤘

I think I was literally the first real Metal Head in my school. It SUCKED for a while, but I infected them lol. Little bitty town out in the Hill Country. (Kerrville was the BIG town we went to)

Same here, man. I graduated with 9 people, and they only listened to two kinds of music: country AND western. It was awful.

Well, there were actually 10 people in my class but poor old Jacob failed out right in the end and didn't get to walk. In most graduations it's not a big deal when someone doesn't walk because no one notices, but we could literally hear people in the crowd whispering "So what happened to Jacob?" I graduated from a tiny little school in between Waco and Whitney. Our gym was literally built to double as a cattle barn in case the school closed down. One dude literally drove his tractor to school every morning. Not a joke. Full on Massey Ferguson in the parking lot. I've got so many stories from that place, man. Most people don't believe me when I try to explain how absurd it was. It was like The Dukes of Hazzard crossed with Jackass.

Yeah the hair band version of Pantera was not great. I tried to find some decent video of them during that time period and none of it's in great shape. I kinda wonder if that's intentional.

So sad I never got to see Dime before his death - met VP years ago while he was touring with Hell Yeah… sweetest dude ever. Signed my set list and told me “I reminded him of when he lived in Texas” because of how strong my southern accent is. I ended up moving to Texas and visited their graveyard to pay my respects. True legends 🤘🏻

I know. I think I said this in the video, but I actually had front row tickets to see Pantera in the mid-90s. It was either for Far Beyond Driven or The Great Southern Trendkill. 97.1 KEGL was having a call in contest that I won. But I had to work the night of the concert, and my thought was "Well, they're Texas boys. They'll be back through and I'll see them at some point." And I didn't go. Instead, worked a shift at Waldenbooks. I always tell my students that if you have a chance to see an artist, go see them come hell or highwater. You never know what life holds. I'm glad you got to see Vinnie at least. That's really cool. Thanks for checking this one out. I hope you check out some of our other content.

@@LikeMindedLunatics I did the same thing with Linkin Park (except mine was a more “selfish reasoning”) - at the time I wasn’t close with my sister in law and didn’t want to “spend the evening with her”, just a few months later Chester passed away. I also seen Chris Cornell about a month before he passed and Mitch Lucker about 4 months before he passed. I am so appreciative of people like you encouraging these moments/experiences. Concerts are life changing and we never know when will be their last or our last. Pre-Covid I went to about 15 shows a year - now I’m getting back to normal and have 7 lined up that I will ensure I don’t miss. Always love the content and appreciate the amazing responses ♥️

I'm so glad you're getting to go back out to see shows. My wife and I were exactly the same. Pre-COVID we saw dozens of shows a year, and then that just stopped. We've finally started going out some, but my wife's a physician, so she's pretty careful because she doesn't want to compromise her health lest she unintentionally passes it along to a patient. But we've started going back out. And thank you so much for the kind comments. I'm glad you're enjoying the content. If you ever get a chance, our T.V. show airs at 10PM CST every Friday on Austin Music TV, and they have a streaming version where there's a chat box, and the LML Crew often hangs out chatting there during the show. If you find yourself free on a Friday, come hang out with us: supportaustinmusic.com/channel-16/

Hey guys, is there any way you can turn off that feature where every time you say something during the song the volume drops off and then takes forever to get back to full volume? It REALLY sucks as you have to wait repeatedly after any sound any of you make for the volume to come back to normal when we can perfectly hear you without the "feature." It seems like every reactor has that working against them.

Oh yeah, I love that Bush heavy metal band. They are awesome! I mosh by myself in the living room listening to Bush, then I put on some Justin Beiber (Pop Metal) and really start jamming. That's when the 15 year old girls next door start yelling at me to turn it down. Jam session over. R.I.P. Dime & Vinnie Paul
