Tirana is such a great gem of a place..
We went on a little market hunt to the Markets Pazari i Ri in Tirana, and a clothes Market located on Rruga Zela and let us tell you something... WE LOVED IT!
The local vendors and everyone around is so friendly, charming and helpful! We met a group of local kids as well who were just adorable and so easy going!
Genuinely love this place!
In total, here is what we got:
Almonds, Walnuts, Pistachios and dried cranberries for 300 Lek (€2.46)
500 gr. of cherries for 300 Lek (€2.46)
300 gr. of olives for 100 Lek (€0.82)
2 pairs of socks for 400 Lek (€3.28)
Rakia - priceless

Cherries were high. The new mayor of Tirana who is a crook and thief, has imposed taxes on the vendors that sell there. I remember that market back in 1997 before I left Albania. Up the street there is the meat and fish market. and In there you will find a little store, that sells "qofte" in English I believe we call them meatballs or sausages. They are so good. And the guy that owns the place has inherited the store/tradition of making "qofte" from his grandfather. Like he is a true original local as they call it in Albanian: "Tirona's" Thank you for sharing, promoting and visiting Albania. On the other side of the market there used to be an amazing Italian Restaurant called: "La Perla". The owner was from Rome, the best boss I have worked for. When I visit Tirana, I always stop by to salute him, and practice my rusted Italian language, now mixed with Spanish. Salute from an Albanian/American in Tennessee & NYC

I told you albanian people are friendly people they have big hearts and they will help you. But they like raki and irish people drink alcohol but albanians alchol raki and coffee they drink much in the morning and at the evening lol. Enjoy ❤

@@TwoMadExplorers You will definitely enjoy the coast, especially down south. I truly wish you would check out the North too, the Alps, Theth and Valbona river. It's the best time of the year to go there, because there is no snow.

Raki is the national drink of Albania, the raki made from the grape. Let's make clear, it was not invented by us, probably were the ancient Romans. But the way how it is produced (most of the raki is homemade, basically the majority of the people produce their own raki, something similar happens even with the olive oil) and the way how certain region of Albania drink it makes raki our national drink. We like to drink it without mixing, no water, ice, cola, etc. And here I want to give you a friendly advice. Be careful with raki because it is very powerful and tricky. We use to say, you can be brave as much as you want but at the end raki always win. You should drink it with small sips and not with shots. From the other side raki is the best drink, absolutely. You can drink raki when you are bored, when you are happy, when you especially in the morning drink a Turkish coffee, when you eat, etc. Its the best and is an universal drink. Wish you all the best in your tour in Albania, enjoy your stay here and thanks for the kind words for the country and the people.

I'm envious, I'm stuck in US and would love to go back, just to eat. Fruits, look for small sized grapes(native varieties), my favorite has always been a small sized yellow/golden colored variety. Figs, medium small size, green color variety. Plums, yellow, and reddish varieties for summer time, dark plums in fall(should be aromatic). There's also a plum and peach hybrid, you can find in Permet morning market(if you go to Permet, tiny city). I can't say for peaches, try goodies farm, a pricey place in the center that sells only high quality organic products. Prices are in kilograms, don't second guess yourself.

The new bazaar is a bit expensive. It's more convenient to buy to the local groceries in the neighborhoods.

Friendly midgets everywhere huh 😂. Just joking guys 👍. I told you that if you're a bit more open minded you're gonna like Albania. I think the price you payed for cherries was a little bit higher but i guess it was because of the good quality. Glad you're enjoying it so far 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
