The American technology media Electrek published an article on the 12th saying that it is ironic that China is often accused of "not doing enough" to deal with climate change, but now the United States says they are "doing too much" in electric vehicles and solar energy.

That’s the prerogative of the US to impose new trade tariffs on EV’s and other China green energy imports. The 100% tariff by the US on EV will hurt the lower income Americans most as it deprave the lower income Americans from owning an inexpensive and good EV for their daily transportation. The 100% tariff is a tax levied on cheap China EV that the lower income Americans have to pay in order to owns an EV from China made models. Other countries will be able to enjoy an inexpensive and affordable car within their means Instead of focusing on ideological differences, the US should provides a solid foundation for pragmatic cooperation aiming at strengthening connectivity across the world. Instead US should leverage the thriving Chinese economy as a substantial market and foster stronger connections. Decoupling from China or de-risking with China is neither practical nor necessary and poisoning the relationship by decoupling or de-risking resulted in the lost of opportunity. But instead, the US discourage China and other countries from challenging the US leadership or seeking to overturn the established political and economic order. The US must maintain the mechanisms for deterring potential competitors in other countries from even aspiring to a larger regional or global role. The major US objective is to safeguard US interests and promote US foreign policy. The US will not tolerate any objection that threatens US hegemony regarding US interests and US foreign policy. If necessary, the US must be prepared to take unilateral action. The US like to portrays other countries as an antagonists and as well as an adversary when the US face with competition in technology and high-tech industries that the US regard it as their domains and sphere of influence and will not accept any competition from another country. The US accuse China of excess capacity in green energy. The US like to use ambiguous words like decoupling, derisking, and tariffs in implementing trade barriers and economic sanctions against China. The US wanted to destroys China and its economy in order to prevent China from competing with the US. The US multiple sanctions is a deliberate attempt by the US to obliterate China in its economic and trade war against China. The US sanctions has long been a diplomatic and economic tool used by US seeking to influence others. The dense bureaucratic jargon and minute technical detail is a declaration of economic war on China. The US is full of mischief by creating trouble and exerting its power and hegemony as well as economic dominance all over the world.

Am still not getting the part of reinvestment into Green by using a copy of third world fiscal policy over imports very much across South East Asia. However it appears in the case of BYD EVs I just checked that these Asian countries are so thrilled to give BYD a full tax break!! She basically weaponized a new category of product to be discriminated by the country of origin factor. Am not a fan of China but why sugarcoating a trade war Inflationary consequences? Trump's approach was at least by transitioning and offering a cross-sell approach which helped the offsets to spill into strategic sectors. That approach wasn't even close to being called out as a war in my opinion. This one is a 100% discriminatory clause since there isn't yet any demand. What's her track record in multi channel negotiations and concessions? Why she's even there as an Ambassador? If you cannot compete with China when it comes to green products like solar panels and electric vehicles, implementing protectionist policies such as banning these imports or imposing high tariffs is a misguided strategy. Such an approach is ultimately detrimental and demonstrates a lack of competitiveness. Rather than resorting to trade barriers, a more productive path forward would be to invest in domestic innovation, manufacturing capabilities, and workforce development to bolster the competitiveness of the national green technology industry. Embracing free and fair competition can drive advancements that benefit consumers and the environment in the long run.

Donald Trump said trade war with China is easy to win. The US inflation has risen after sanctioning Russia on export of their cheap gas ( overcapacity to spoil US gas market) due to high gas price and American consumers are paying higher price buying imported Chinese goods at higher tariffs. So American consumers will pay more to buy Chinese EV thereby increasing consumers cost of living. Eventually the American consumers will need higher salary to keep up with the increasing inflation. During the great depression era, the US increased very high tariffs on European goods but eventually the US recession still persisted. No high tariff can solve a country's economic debacle.

Damn if you do damn if you don't. I honestly don’t think American and European car makers can't compete with 20k EV right now. If Ford is losing 100k/ 1EV sold now, it will be forced to lose more if we allow Chinese car makers to compete in American market.

If Ford is already losing 100K/1EV they sell, then Ford should return to combustion cars. Banning Chinese EVs won't save Ford any harm either.

China could play the inflation card. Why would they not increase the prices on top of the existing tariffs. The US consumer would reduce buying in the short term. But this would add pressure on the inflation and politics as goods become much more expensive even if homegrown

She looks like just won a lottery, lol. Maybe she can explain to american how tariff works, it is a tax that american pays, actually it has a tax on tax effort. For example, when US puts a 100% tariff on an EV, the sale price of this solar panel should double (american importers have to front the tariff, Chinese does not own any dealership) and then consumer pays sales tax based on the sale price, so the sale tax is doubled. All these extra tax are from American to American government, academic anyway since there is no Chinese EV in North America market. Hopefully it gets Biden a few more votes in Michigan. Tesla, Ford and GM sales will drop in China for sure just like Chinese switching from Apple to Huawei to show patriotism, no tariff or sanction required.
