I've been playing bass for years and doing these things without even realizing it. Unfortunately, nobody ever explained it this way and I wish someone did. For someone just starting out, this may be the most valuable lesson you can get.

My goodness that new blade goes through that oak like a hot knife trough butter! Many moons ago when I worked at a sawmill, I remember when we put a new 56 inch blade on our mill. It was the same as with you now, nothing but smoth even production. Stay safe and God bless!

Like butter! I always liked how white oak sawed. One of my first custom sawing jobs back in the 80`s was 10 k bf of big clear white oak , the farmer wanted it for pens in a bull barn! Sawed on a manual Lane mill powered by a 1964 401 ci. Case diesel power unit. This is why my back is pretty gone now LOL . Set up a lot like yours. In the end we had an EM16 Morbark debarker ,home made log decks with stop and loaders ,#1 Lane semi auto with Barry feed, Melott log turner ext . Nice to see the circle mills kept alive.

Gidday from NZ. I used to work with my father on his mill' a handy tailing out tool for grabbing the slabs was a piece of 3/4 Galv pipe 9" long with a Right Angle Triangle of 1/4 plate steel 1 3/4" long to 1" base. Weld the 1"base to the side and end of the pipe. Great for flicking into those wayward slabs and pulling them out of the way. I'm a Marine Cabinetmaker now, that was a beautiful oak log, nice wide planks, give your eye teeth for one of them here. $3870 for the blade.

Lot of sawing BUT if they have the money...........! We use rebar for stakes. We used bamboo for a while but it was a pain with all the splintery edges and with reber, wherever you tie onto it is where it stays. Glad you had Captain Horvath and ZZ Mark and the gnome favors those two. Happy weekend and God Bless

ZZ Mark here. Mark G was at the eye doctor just about all day yesterday having a procedure done on one of his eyeballs and his is not able to see the computer screen to answer all of the comments that are coming in. Yesterday’s video didn’t post until later in the day also. But Mark is home and recovering,and he does plan on being at the sawmill Saturday. So, I am going to have a go at replying to some of the comments and watching those guesses on the price of the new saw blade that have been coming in. You are getting closer and closer to the number! I didn’t even know it until Mark just told me. Thanks for watching the movie and have some positive thoughts for Mark as he recovers. I’ll let him fill you in on the details. ZZ Mark

He still has a lot to learn if production and yield is important. With a mill like that and plenty of power as well as a good tail sawyer on an edger and a couple good lumber stackers a GOOD sawyer can produce well over 2000 BF per hour sawing for grade.

@damianousley88336 ай бұрын
A saw blade is quicker in cutting the run of the mill stick sizes in lumber or timber. Band saws cutting big slabs is one thing to make table tops, but you need planks to make standard furniture items like cupboards and shelving and oe legs excetera. A lot if the lumber cut on this channel is destined for external exterior construction use like decks and general building use.
