Thanks for the videos. I decked when I was a kid on the Arkansas and Mississippi. Worked for some good ones and some really bad ones. The good ones made hard work satisfactory. The bad ones made life on the river miserable. In the 70s the little line boats on the Arkansas just did not have enough power for any margins at all coming through the maze at Little Rock in high water and you never knew when the RR was going to drop the span on you.

Do you have a video S/bound making those same bridges ( high water ) pushing loads ? Btw, I love how calm you are and walking in and out wheelhouse...etc... When I make bridges , my azz is glued to my chair sweating bullets until I'm clear !!!.. And I'm on my 3rd issue !!!.. I DON'T Panic, But I'd be a liar if I said I was anywhere near as calm as you my friend and most I ever pushed was 6 !!!!... You make an EXCELLENT teacher and thanks for the extra knowledge you put out there !!!... Idk if your retired yet or not... But if you make a vid explanation how you steer the bridges with reputations... That would be awesome to watch , especially for the ones who are recently cut loose or never ran those bridges b4 !!.. I was fortunate to have several different Captains show me how to run the Morgan City bridges , via Port Allen Route N & S/B with Loads and mty's... Because without that knowledge and experience.... The human mind would definitely wanna run those much different and ( NOT GOOD RESULTS ).... Great Job el Kap-A-Tan... 😁

I just discovered your videos. I had to comment on this one because I knew the "Gregory David". I work for the Corps of Engineers in Huntington WV, processing and analyzing the Waterborne Commerce Data. Awesome viewing of your steering!

What do you think of the Missouri River and running it? I grew up in St. Louis in North County and spent my childhood 1962-73 on Pelican Island 25 miles or so from the confluence with The Mississippi. I loved both rivers and knew the St. Louis waterfront well. Nice to see it from your vantage point. You are a good pilot! While I loved the river, and still do, I ended up as an airline pilot. I would see my 2 favor rivers from 37,000 feet.

We were fairly confident we had clearance, but knew it was close. We measured 3 times

St. Louis is on the left, west side of the river so I assume we're northbound, upstream against the current.
