Both Ronnie and Trevor have that foreigner humility that endears them to Americans. We are so used to protruding overconfidence that a bit of humility is refreshing. And also, its cuz they realize that they may always been seen as foreigners or guests

Yeah Ronnie is in his 30s still while Marlon is in his 50’s…that’s why Ronnie can say he literally grew up watching Marlon, and why he can say that Marlon has been around long enough to literally see technology and platforms change.

@@theoryofunrelativityagreed! I loved his tv shows too. Used to watch it with my wife and kids and the kids would laugh even as toddlers, at the physical comedy, while the adults would laugh at hidden jokes. It was genius. As a entire family we had hoped there would be more seasons

The Wayans family has provided an immense amount of joy in my life, and just knowing they did it for the laugh, for the moment, for themselves AND for me, that is a connecting thing. These are comedians who are capable of being funny without being cruel, or flat ignorant, or anything that would be less-than the artform they were representing. As a young white dude growing up, having all this BS pushed on you from the outer world, the Wayans comedy character really broke through, really changed me as a person. Love this, love yall.

Great interview! Marlon made an interesting point about evolving his comedy to a point where he could talk about tragedy and that was more meaningful to him as a comic. Using his pain as his own source material. It was a really interesting contrast to this round table I saw of mainly POC women comedies who always felt they were expected to bring their hardship or personal stories to everything they do and how they wanted to get to a point where they could do projects that weren't reflections of their own life and or hardships.

Marlon just described what it was that made Richard Pryor a great stand up comedian, possibly the greatest of time, we'll have to wait till the end of time to see if that holds true but for now he still reigns and that's because more than any other everything he gave us was of himself, it was all personal.
