When we stop prioritizing our spouse and start putting our treasures elsewhere, the love and passion in the relationship diminish. However, by re-prioritizing our marriage and actively working to meet each other's needs, we can reignite the passion and restore the love.

Sometimes a person stops putting their treasures toward their spouse because their spouse doesn’t value it, and it’s never enough for them. And it’s exhausting.

Love this title! These days, especially westerners have this impression that everything should come easy or be comfortable - otherwise something may be wrong: with our partner or with us... Well the thing that's wrong is that idea in society! That life should be easy or comfortable. The Bible wasn't written in comfortable times about people content do be "just fine, thanks!" It constantly reminds us that this life is a challenge and there will be persecution. There may come apocalyptic persecution, even, world-changing if not life-changing. There are stories of criminal behavior, infidelity, cultures gone astray from the wisdom of Divine guidance... And recovering, forgiven - but not until there has been some sacrifice or repentance. Jonah. Nineveh... The adultress who Jesus said "let me without sin cast the 1st stone" even though the male with her was adultering, too. One story is about a man who lets travelers stay in his home that locals don't appreciate - and the whole town shows up to literally rape the unwanted traveler and the man sacrifices one of his concubine wives to them instead, finding her all but lifeless body on his threshold the next morning or something. There are stories of extreme poverty, like the woman who though she gave her last two coins when all the others at temple may have given the equivalent of hundreds or thousands - but those w she gave were all she had. Were her last moneys. There are stories of using the temple as a place of business exchange instead of prayerful refuge in the sacred. So to have this expectation that life - let alone marriage - should always be safe or healthy or wealthy or stable...easily just by stating your commitment to one another for 1 day's celebration... might be an unreasonable expectation. But we can recommit. We can fall from grace and forgive or resolve or repent and sacrifice next time that reputation comes up and find ways to fortify our marriage against it. But to expect all will be well just because we wear a piece of silver on a certain finger might be unrealistic. Or even delusional. Even the Buddhists say "all life is suffering" and much of their goals involve reducing the suffering of others as a way to reduce our own. Well repentance reduces suffering. Self sacrifice on behalf of others or our future - in Heaven (if we get it) reduces suffering. While faith ensures peace is at least on it's way, perpetually. The Peace of Jesus. May we all be so lucky to suffer vulnerably for it reminds us of the honor of dependence on God that Jesus gifts us with in the Holy Spirit. We might celebrate our struggles for Christ if we weren't so busy denying them.

This is so good! "The best person does the right thing first." I love that. It's a struggle sometimes, but the eternal perspective is that I can't stand before the Lord and play the blame game that Adam did. Every ounce of my being tells me that the Lord will ask me about what I did with what He gave me.

Marriage is a sacred union between two souls, a promise of love and commitment. Weddings are beautiful celebrations of this union, filled with joy, laughter, and tears of happiness. They mark the beginning of a new chapter in life, where two hearts become one, embarking on a journey together, hand in hand.

The problem is when you want to fix something but your spouse doesn't. Been trying to serve her for over a year nothing happened. I have faith and I'll just keep trying

I was married for 6 years. In the last 3 years my marriage was on life support . We tried counseling and my wife refused to meet me halfway. Eventually she stopped going to counseling and blamed me for all her issues. She walked out on me and moved back with her parents. Her parents refused to hold her accountable. She left me alone for months but still wants me to provide for her. We’re divorced now because my wife put all her treasures somewhere else. Thankfully we didn’t have kids.

The good old bait and switch of marriage. Just remember there are vast differences in the amount of work necessary in different marriages to meet spousal needs. So for example Jack may have had to compromise to take out the garbage and wash towels where Bill may find himself cooking dinner, doing most of the house cleaning, and handling the finances and still being told by his wife that he isn't doing enough. So just be aware when the marriage experts talk about "work" in marriage, there is so much difference in the amount of work needed between marriages to make the advice almost meaningless. There is also the suggestion that working on your marriage will actually improve it. There are no guarantees of that as any number of married people will attest.
